Beatrice Mwala Hangwende, Three Others to Hang
The High Court has sentenced Beatrice Mwala Hangwende to death by hanging for the murder of her ex-husband’s lover, Monica Chabwera Phiri in 2007.
Supreme Court Judge Gregory Phiri who sat as High court Judge passed the sentence that has seen Beatrice, Her Brother John, Cousin Joseph Banda and Charles Mwanza face a death sentence.
Mary Moyo the hair dresser, who was arrested as one of the accomplices, has walked to freedom after spending seven years in custody.
Meanwhile, the other accomplice Jungwe Magula is to serve 15 years but will only serve the remaining eight years as he has already served seven years.

this is a lesson to all married women, just becoz u are married to someone does not mean u are owez right neither does it give u the right to kill yo hubby’s galfriend. Sometimes look within yoself probably u are the one with a problem. By now Beatrice might be thinking “if i just had held back and left that marriage in peace, I would have my life and freedom” now there she is, being sentenced to death. And not long ago a woman in trying to chase her hubby’s infidelity led to her two children dying. Is this surely wat we want as women? If u can’t take it, divorce him and leave your life! Nobody has ever died of being single!

it is also becoz as women we think marriage is the ultimate end, that is y we go to extremes. It is NOT, there is much more to life than MARRIAGE. That is y the Bible gives a condition that “u can divorce wen one is not faithful”, becoz these are the consequences wen u replace life with marriage!

The men also are to blame! Once you get married, be faithful to your wife. If you want to have another woman, be open to your wife and conclude accordingly. If the husband to this woman was open with her wife, such couldn’t have happened. Now, what will the parents to the wife say? Will they allow theirs just to die and watch? Be careful when marrying! marriage is not just like a club, that you could join and leave at any time. watch out!

I first read about this trial when I was 17 years old. I remember thinking the case would be forgotten. Lessons learned;

@ comfort…I feel you my sister…why should men be allowed to walk out smelling of roses all the time even when they are in the wrong? This isn’t right. If that man had kept his pants down, this scenario would not have occurred. Beatrice was wrong in killing the girlfriend quite okey…she overreacted, but that doesn’t make the husband and the late Monica free…@ Maripiro…I agree with everything you have said…Marriage is not a club where you come and go as you wish…In most cases than not, women’s time is often wasted by men. They marry them when they are still young and fresh only to be dumped when they have lost their beauty and go chasing after the so called “beauties..” Its not right and this should never be supported by anyone in their rightful minds!!!

The first question you want to ask is, why did Mwala leave Beatrice and begun chasing Monica? There are so many things that happen in side the house which are not brought out open and slowly med are driven ou, and because they do not want to fight, resort to find pleasure outside the home. I do recall a friend telling me that, the wife told him that, He beleives as a human we are bound to temptation, and he politely told the husband that, the Last thing he expects from him is to bring her a woman on her face, !! wooh, one would have though she gave him a passport but this guy, true to his vows, he has not been involved in any relation with anygirl not that I know. How I wish many more ladies would be so mature to imaginary let go, yet by doing so, you actually give respect and instil self diginity in a man. but is you resort to set a time table for you husband when to have sex and when not, they be sure that those other days, he will find some one to fill in the gap. Beatrice should be a leson to all, both men and woman
