Clifford Mulenga Changes Citizenship, Cease to Be Zambian ‘He Is Now South African’

Former Chipolopolo player Clifford Mulenga has changed his nationality to South African, Tumfweko understands.

The changing of his citizenship means he is now unlikely to feature for Chipolopolo after obtaining South African citizenship.

Sources had hinted to Tumfweko recently on Mulenga’s intention to become a South African.

Now the SuperSport United midfielder has got his wish according to reports emanating from Mzansi.

Under the current constitution, Zambia does not allow dual citizenship.

The world is one, but humans have created imaginary boundaries they call countries which restrict the movement of people. Anyone has a right to belong to any part of the world they feel will give them better opportunities. All the best Mulenga with your new permanent location.

      Spot on Emmy!
I have always wondered why Zambians blossom in foreign countries!
It somehow shows how toxic our society is.
The ‘PhD syndrome’ in our country is pathetic!
It is actually worse among the so called very educated unfortunately!
I would encourage anyone who so wishes to feel free to do so, especially for your children!

Pipo, pliz think or at least research if reasoning fails. Ba Tumfweko you also disappoint at times. You reporting is at times so shallow and narrowly opinionated. You can apply for permanent residence in SA after 5 years of your stay whether you play footbll or not. Once you apply for permanent residence your citizenship does not change. He cannot play for Bafanabafana because he is not yet a citizen of SA. So pliz, get the facts right.

The Action by CM has been necessitated by the current FAZ administration personal hate on the young man . Its clear to everyone by now that CM despite being good he is not favoured by the current admin, This is just the begining as SA has run out of talent and zambia is a better source

He can’t play for another country as he has already represented Zambia more than once at international level as per FIFA guide lines; Statue Article 17: Acquisition of a new nationality, and amended Article 18 of the Regulations Governing the Application of the FIFA Statutes. The rule states that any player who is over the age 21 and has played for the full national team is barred from switching nations.

he can represent SA even after representing zambia at international level, he is only barred to represent SA if he played for the senior zambia national team at one time and in this case, which clifford did.

Ba tumfweko go to school first then start reporting. You want to do things the other way round. This is what s wrong with many Zambians. Mulenga has not become South African. He is just a permanent resident! Go and study what that is then come and report.
