Dear Editor,
AFTER being eliminated from the CHAN 2014 final leg at levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola last week, let us avoid poor results next week as we aim to beat Ghana. Let us take the coming crucial game seriously and ensure that the coach assembles the strongest team to meet Ghana.
The coaching bench must ensure that there is continuity in terms of players featuring for the national soccer team, more especially at the senior level.
Otherwise, one reason why usually Chipolopolo fail to perform is that there is no coordination amongst the players in the Zambia national team despite having a lot of players playing professional football.
If we want Chipolopolo to qualify to the World Cup finals for the first time, let us assemble the strongest team to meet Ghana next week on Friday, September 6, 2013. No-one must interfere in the selection of players. Let the coach and his assistant select good players based on merit and on current performance.
Failure to implement the above can cause a loss and it will be painful to watch Brazil 2014 without Chipolopolo!
There is no excuse for not qualifying to the World Cup 2014! Let Renard and his assistant work on assembling the strongest side to beat Ghana come next week!
I hope and trust our hardworking Minister of Sport Chishimba Kambwili will arrange for transport to Ghana for selected soccer fans to go and cheer the Chipolopolo. We must never be intimidated by the mind game of some Ghanaian players.
By the way, is ZNBC TV going to televise the long awaited game live on TV?

Zambian football sucks. We have no professionals in this country. FAZ and the coaching bench are all dunderheads. Honestly if you expect to beat Ghana think again because that is wishful thinking.

If you had no excuse for qualifying for CHAN what excuse would you have for not qualifying for the World Cup. For me, Zambians are only local champions. They can never represent Africa at the world cup with their mediocre thinking. Accept it or die.

It’s good to be optimistic in life but equally important not to conveniently bypass facts. In these 2014 world qualifying games Zambia has not lived up to its billing of being Champions only 18 months ago. To beat Ghana in Ghana is humanly possible but the lads will really need to up their game.
Three things will determine how Zambian will perform on the day – the lineup, mental fortitude and physical fitness of the boys. Will Renard continue to play Chisamba Lungu in that wrong position and starve the middle field of the slick passing and urgency synonymous with the boy? Which striking combination will he employ? Will the lads have the 2012 attitude when they concentrated on the ball not the players they played against? Are they fit physically to soak the pressure and coast to victory at the end? I remain cautiously optimistic

Zambia coach Herve Renard says Zambia have a “monster” in front of them in a candid interview ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier on September 6, also admitting that he should have quit his position as coach as soon as he led the Chipolopolo to a remarkable AFCON triumph last year.
Ghana has named a squad including Kelvin Prince Boateng and Andre Ayew for the Kumasi clash whilst the Frenchman also named a strong squad the same day in preparation for a return to the country where he started his journey as an assistant to Claude le Roy.
“You can imagine I made my first step in Ghana so its important for me to go back.We need to believe in ourselves but we also know what is ahead of us.We have a monster in front of us .A monster of Africa and we have to be better than them that day “.
Zambia lie a point behind Ghana and need a win to qualify for the final stages of the qualification draw,a situation Renard finds appropriate.
“In the whole our desperate situation is not the worst because we have only one option and that is to win.We can give everything to the last second and if Ghana deserves to go through they will. What i know is that we still have our destiny at our feet”.
Regarding his future the Frenchman has continued to cast doubts on his future. He sensationally told journalists at a press briefing last week that he would quit after the Ghana game,a stance he does not shift from as he told Allsports .
“I still continue to think it was not a good thing stay after winning in 2012, I need to explain it because some people will interpret it badly but when you achieve something nobody was expecting, it’s difficult to do better.”
He further complained that Zambians have become over ambitious after their AFCON win in Gabon.
“Now, people think we can beat everybody all over the world, but we all know it’s not so. We have to be realistic in football”.
Zambia has had a topsy turvy build up to the game, winning the COSAFA Cup in June but eliminated from the CHAN qualifiers two weeks ago.

Whether or not it is wishful thinking to think that Zambia will beat Ghana in Kumasi, that is at least better than stinking negative thinking! He can who thinks he can. What the mind conceives, the mind can do. The game must at least be won in the mind before you can hope to win it on the field.
