PROFLIGHT UPGRADES FOR UNWTO GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Proflight Zambia is pulling out all the stops to ensure that this week’s UNWTO General Assembly puts Zambia on the international tourism map.

Zambia’s scheduled airline has upgraded the aircraft on its Lusaka-Livingstone services to accommodate the additional passengers to the General Assembly. Its Boeing 737 aircraft, with more than 100 seats, has been deployed on flights usually operated by its 29-seater Jetstream 41 aircraft, while the Jetstream 41 will be running in place of the smaller 18-seat Jetstream 32 planes during the event.

Proflight also helped to get the event off to a flying start on Friday (August 23), when its Fly5 supergroup of brand ambassadors: JK, Slap Dee, Cactus Agony, Pompi and Petitia Mwanza, performed at the opening celebrations in Livingstone.

Proflight Zambia’s stand at the main Sun International conference venue is showcasing the best of the company’s aviation services, with information on its nine domestic destinations as well as its first international route from Lusaka to Lilongwe.

“The UNWTO gives Proflight Zambia the opportunity to stand proudly with the government in showcasing to these world tourism experts the very best that Zambia has to offer,” said Proflight Director of Government and Industry Affairs Capt. Philip Lemba. “As Zambia’s leading airline we are carrying the flag for the nation’s aviation services and are doing everything we can to demonstrate our reliability, efficiency, safety and friendly service.”

Meanwhile, the airline’s sponsorship of 30 ‘Insakartists’, has enabled the youngsters to travel free on the airline’s Boeing 737 aircraft to Livingstone for the 6th Insakartists International Artists Workshop 2013 being held during August and September and coinciding with the UNWTO meeting.  In return for the support, the Insaka team built a model 737 out of rubbish that was exhibited at the show and was used as a giant dustbin before being “melted” into a solid form for display at Livingstone airport during the festival and at different shopping malls after the festival.
