PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary General Wynter Kabimba says the PF is living up to its promise of creating jobs.
Mr Kabimba said in line with the PF manifesto on job creation, the party established the National Project for Poverty Reduction (NPPR), a PF subsidiary organisation, which has trained 300 women in tailoring.
Mr Kabimba said Zambia has a great shortage of artisans and other professionals.
“Because of this shortage, people complain that there are too many Chinese doing the work Zambians are supposed to do and as a party, we established this organisation,” Mr Kabimba said.
Mr Kabimba was speaking yesterday when he inaugurated board members for the NPPR.
The NPPR board will be chaired by Justice Deputy Minister Ngosa Simbyakula. Board members include Alex Chama, Anthony Kasolo, Geoffrey Chuumbwe and John Chisanga.
Others are Rashford Mwale, Annie Kayula, Dorothy Kazonga and Susan Kawandami who are all members of the PF central committee.
The NPPR which is currently housed on Nangwena Road will soon move to offices behind Zesco headquarters in Lusaka.
The offices are under construction and will be complete by the end of the year.
Touring the classroom block yesterday, Mr Kabimba said K3 billion has been spent on the construction of the classrooms so far.
And Mr Kabimba said NPPR was established to provide vocational training to PF members free of charge.
The courses provided by the organisation include tailoring, computer studies, metal fabrication and power electrical.
Other courses include plumbing, engineering, English and mathematics.
Meanwhile, board chairperson Dr Simbyakula said the vision of the organisation is to see a society that will be empowered with skills and knowledge.
Dr Simbyakula said the organisation will spread to other provinces and districts countrywide.
“What we have in Lusaka is a pilot project… we will soon roll it out to all parts of the country,” Dr Simbyakula said.
Government recently said it had created up to 300,000 jobs in under two years with more jobs coming as projects such as the Link8000 and L400 peak.

Yes, it is only for PF members as it is a party initiative.
Only after they are out of power it will be opened to all at a fee as they will not have enough sponsors then. It is their way of allowing all their members benefit from their current political status as a ruling party.

I have a problem just looking at the composition of the board. Please we have teveta offering the same programmes funded by the government.Unless you tell me that this initiative will be funded by PF.And if so where will they get funding if not from the state.it will end up like the Richard Sakala housing project which was running parallel from the National housing authority.
Let’s wait and see fellow PF member.

When you have many responsibilities, much will be required from you when our PF will be out of power.Be careful Winter boyi.

Be considerate when criticizing.Mind you this group of pipo also need a certain training to sustain their lives and that is also called employment creation. We are not only talking about university graduates only no! PF govt really working for the poor pipo like no other govt in the past.

We have so many institutions that have produced and are still producing artisians. Zambia has alot of artisians who are unemployed. These artisains have just ended up in the streets (doing business or jobs they have not been trained in). 48 years after indepedance we now have leaders who are saying that we do not have skilled labour. Shame on pf Gvt, coz it is to soon for you to forget what you promised artisains who are in the streets. Wynter is right, this pf gvmt is creating jobs for the chinese.

what kind of jobs are you creating?permanet jobs or temprol jobs?what kind of sector or institutions are you supporting to creat these jobs?please the government am aging you to support and give business to institutions that are empolying people with reputable working conditions and not briefcase business men with bogas working conditions, creating employment is a very good thing but what matters most are the working conditions the same companies are offering and the number of people being empolyed, same insitutions does not want to employee a big number of people because of there selfish needs to maximise profits, please the government you give full support to your parastetals, give them business because they have a huge work force and there is potential for them to grow and contribute to this quest for job creation, these investors and bogas business men are here to maximise profits nowounder they do not need huge work force or give better working conditions to zambians,if you analize the situation in the nation everyone now wants to join the seval service but government alone can not emloyee the 13 plus million zambian population, let us give support to zesco, zamtel, zra, napsa, zampost, natsave, zambia national building society and etc, local is laka

Good idea but should avoid talking about ‘free for pf member’, target everyone regardless of their party affiliation. Bringing in politics efileta imichene… Why should you even say it to the public ati it will be free for pf members? If you intend so just keep it to yourself coz it just makes pf look like a briefcase party.
