Mayuka Heads to France On Loan From Southampton

mayukaZambian striker Emmanuel Mayuka has signed a season loan deal for French Ligue 1 side Sochaux from English Premier League side Southampton.

The 22 year striker was in France after flying in from England on Sunday and completed the deal on Monday afternoon and now the striker will connect to South Africa, and team up with his international teammates ahead of Friday’s Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier.

Despite being on target last week in the Capital One Cup, Southampton decided to fame out the highly rated striker who won the Golden Boot award at the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

Glasgow Celtic and Belgium side Standard Liege both expressed interest to sign the former Kabwe Warriors striker but he preferred to play for the French side.

There were also options within England with several Championship sides.

Mayuka will return to Southampton next season to fight for a first team place. He still has 4 years remaining on his contract with the Saints.

A good move. With enough game time Mayuka will prove his potential and probably attract interest from bigger and better Clubs than the Saints.Mean while Sochaux a team he has been loaned to is currently lying in 19th position in the french ligue 1. This is after playing four games in which they have won none but lost two and drew the other.

The game against Ghana also provides him an opportunity, if Renard will play him that is, to show what he is capable of doing.
    Good luck!

It’s better he plays in lower division first. He needs to find his form and get comfortable. when he is finally used and has confidence to play with muzungus, he can return to Premier League footy.

playing in a lower league and be featured always is better than signing for a premier league team bt warming the bench always is not good. So they say, taking a few steps back to prepare for a longer jump. hope that’s his move.
