Syria Minister: US Strike on Syria ‘Would Benefit Al-Qaeda’

Speaking to the BBC’s Jeremy Bowen, Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said terrorism would flourish everywhere if the US attacked Syria.

Any US military action against Syria would amount to “support for al-Qaeda and its affiliates,” Damascus has said.

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad also told the BBC that armed groups backed by America had used chemical weapons – not Syrian troops.

The US earlier said it had evidence that Damascus had used the nerve agent sarin in a deadly attack last week.

President Barack Obama has vowed punitive action but wants Congress to vote on the issue first.

US lawmakers are due to reconvene next week, and White House officials have said they believe they will support the president.

Campaigning to convince people and politicians that military intervention is the right way forward has already begun in America, correspondents say.

But by putting off an attack and seeking congressional approval, President Obama has taken the biggest gamble of his presidency, the BBC’s North America editor Mark Mardell says.

He adds that if Congress does not back him, it would be disastrous for the president and his decision to call for a vote would look foolish.

For sure if the US continue their excitement about taking the so called punitive action against Syria, Al-Quaeda and other Syria allies will rise up against US and any one supporting the Americans… And then it will be World War III.

These Americans will cause destruction to all of us with their appetite to police the world.
The Syrian matter is an internal matter. What moral ground does the USA have to support rebels against the Syrian government?
This story is starting to sound more and more like invasion of Iraq to hoist out Saddam Hussein under the pretext of weapons of mass destruction. The Sarin gas used in Syria was by the rebels who where getting desperate by the lack of support from the west. It is imperative for the USA to realize that supporting the rebels is the same as arming Al Quaeda as most of the left over bombs will simply make the mid-east more volatile and Israel more insecure.
How unwise can the same Americans be? They armed Osama during the war with Russia over Afghanistan and now they are repeating the same mistake again? God help us and give these morons with the world’s best war machinery wisdom this time around.

Most of the groups fighting Assad, are extremist, off shoots of El-qaeda, this the Western block know. Indeed if US & its gang carry out the strikes the whole Middle East is going to be unstable, just look at Iraq, suicied car bombs is daily bread. Libya is in tatters, its better to leave Syria to sort the matter on its own.
