ZNBC Director General Suspends Effie Mphande

Sources at the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation ZNBC) have disclosed that reporter Effie Mphande was recently suspended by Director General Chibamba Kanyama, after she broke the corporation’s disciplinary code with her larger than life attitude.

Sources say Kanyama was not happy with the behaviour of the slow talking reporter, who wanted special treatment, undermined her superiors and disrespected everyone.

According to the sources, Mphande had at some point stormed Chibamba’s office over the advice he gave her to tone down on her overbearing behaviour towards her colleagues and superiors.

But the director general put his foot down and ‘stopped the rot’ by bringing Mphande down to earth and withdrew her from the special task of covering assignments of Vice President Guy Scott.

“We have the best Director General ever at ZNBC, for the issue to end in suspension, you certainly know that Effie went too far. Alichilamo (she went too far). Chibamba is tolerant. She became too big headed. Tatwalelanda (we were being looked down on by her). He cut her ego to its rightful size,” says one of Mphande’s close colleagues at ZNBC.

Suspended for how long? What did she lose? How was she cut to size, by being sent home to rest? And you call that punishment?

I have advised Effie on several occasions to tone down on her language and behavior, its in public domain that Effie came from a broken down family a situation that has caused irreparable behavioral damage. I felt so sorry when I learnt that Effie has tide a note with a man in readness for a marriage, to be honest and probably the best advise to would be the husband, note, Effie has no morals to stay with others. Check with her college mates who even shared the room with her such as Mooya Mutukwa and Annie both from radio one, really Effie is a DIFFICULT person to deal with. However, Effie may have her good side of her life, committed and dedicated for work. Advise to her, Effie pliz check all your sides, sohould you be fired from ZNBC you will cry to death coz no body will give you a job and by then Guy may have gone and gone for Good.

Where are ethics gone? I thought this was suppose to be in the confines of ZNBC and not for public consumption!

Its good that she has been tamed and it shows that ZNBC is no longer for the ruling party but the public. She should have learnt a lesson from Kandaba when MMD was in power she was untouchable.
