Wynter Kabimba Says ‘Those Who Want Me Out are Wasting their Time’

By CLAVER MUTINTA and JIMMY CHIBUYE

PEOPLE calling for the resignation of Wynter Kabimba as Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general have called for a consultative provincial meeting that shall seek an amicable way of resolving the matter as calls for him to resign raged on.
Mr Kabimba’s immediate reaction was to dig in the proverbial heels and state that those calling for his exit are wasting their time because he is not going anywhere.

He said the cadres and their alleged paymaster are wasting their time, prompting PF national youth chairman Chishimba Kambwili to state that that no one will hound Mr Kabimba out of the party except himself due to “arrogance” and perceived bad attitude towards other party members.
PF Lusaka district chairman Robert Chikwelete said at a press briefing yesterday that executives from Lusaka will hold a meeting to discuss Mr Kabimba’s fate and take resolutions to the central committee for action.
“Let me assure the city that protests that have been going on have come to an end. We are now organising a consultative meeting at provincial level where we are going to have all the districts in the province so that we can come together and discuss the differences that have rocked the party,” he said.
Mr Chikwelete added: “We are going to do it now in-house and all the resolutions will go to the central committee.”
And PF Shiwanga’ndu member of Parliament Stephen Kampyongo said party members are seeking an amicable solution to the impasse.
Mr Kampyongo, who is also Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, told journalists in Lusaka yesterday that all PF members are eagerly waiting for a solution to Mr Kabimba’s matter.
“This is the matter for the senior leadership but we would like to see an amicable solution to this matter,” he said.
PF Kapiri Mposhi constituency secretary Francis Katongo said calls to hound Mr Kabimba out of office must be handled by the central committee in order to offer direction to the general membership and lower party structures.
And Lusaka mayor Daniel Chisenga appealed to the PF district leadership to control their members who want to take advantage of the confusion in the party to settle personal scores.
Kabimba and SataMr Chisenga said people trying to settle personal scores using the confusion are not genuine PF members but “criminals and should be dealt with”.
The mayor threatened to suspend any councillors who will abscond council meetings citing confusion.
Deputy Lusaka mayor Mulenga Sata said PF members should not allow confusion to derail leaders from providing leadership and development to the people.

Kabimba must go BannerMeanwhile, NANCY SIAME and JERRY MUNTHALI report that PF members in Ndola have also joined calls for Mr Kabimba to resign.
Clad in PF regalia and carrying a mock coffin, the members mobilised themselves at Ndola Civic Centre around 10:00 hours and marched through the central business district, halting normal business in town, on their way to present the petitions at the district offices.
Some placards the PF supporters carried read: “Sata 2016 a must, Wynter must go” and “Copperbelt does not want Wynter Kabimba”.
PF Ndola district chairman George Chisulo received petitions from four constituencies in Ndola namely Ndola Central, Bwana Mkubwa, Kabushi and Chifubu.
Mr Chisulo promised to deliver the petitions to President Sata so that he is well-informed about demands of the members.
He said it is clear that the grassroots do not want Mr Kabimba to continue in his position and it is important for him to consider stepping aside.
“I want to thank you for the peaceful demonstrations and I want to encourage you all to unite so that we take our party forward,” Mr Chisulo said.
He accused Mr Kabimba of allegedly failing to manage the affairs of the party because the district has never received correspondence from him since 2011.
But Mr Kabimba, who is also minister of Justice, said the petitioners and their “paymasters” are wasting their time because he will not resign.
Mr Kabimba said he has information that some people were sent to Ndola to pay Mr Chisulo and to sponsor the protests.
“I am not going to resign on account of people being paid. Let them take the money from those who are paying them but I will not resign,”
Mr Kabimba said.
He added: “Those petitioning and their paymasters are wasting their time.”

SATA is such a weak leader…..why can’t the chap just drop “summer” as SG! By dropping “summer”, sata will lose nothing because….”summer” has got no constituency, neither is he a factor in politics! Kambwili is a factor in “ROAN”; GBM is also a factor in “KASAMA”…so who is “summer” who can’t even be voted in his own village in “MUMBWA”? That’s why I used to like “Mwanawasa”MHSRIP.. atleast there was discipline in government.

I am not PF but would like to advise Wynter that “SILENCE IS GOLDEN”. Take a leaf from Lubinda, when he was going through a rough time, he kept his cool and did not respond to the attacks. Today he is a hero. Stop answering back to the cadres, who by the way, are very important to your party. By answering them, you are fueling the fight. I rest my case.
