Kasama Dog ‘Lover’ Bolts

By NORMA SIAME and SYLVESTER MWALE -

RESIDENTS of Kapanda Village in Chief Munkonge’s area in Kasama District have abandoned their homes in fear of an axe-wielding man who was allegedly found having carnal knowledge of a dog.

Philip Pakume, 35, was reported to the police by his mother, Mary Kamfwa, aged 52, who accused her son of having repeated the said act on several occasions in the past.

When police went to effect the arrest, Pakume bolted and only the dog was taken to the police station awaiting examination by veterinary officials.

The veterinary doctor examined the dog in Kasama and indicated in his report that the dog had infections.

However, Pakume returned to the village and threatened people with his axe, warning them against informing the police that he was back in the village.

Ms Chikwanda said police officers would be sent to the village to apprehend Pakume for threatening violence.

The dog, which spent a day at Kasama Central Police Station, has since been returned to its owner.

In another development, an unidentified woman and her infant son have been murdered and their bodies dumped in a stream in Mungwi District.

Northern Province Police chief Mary Chikwanda, who confirmed the murders, said villagers had initially retrieved the bodies but threw them back in the water for fear of being arrested by police as suspects.

A team of police officers was then sent to Mungwi to retrieve the bodies for positive identification and post-mortem at Kasama General Hospital.

Meanwhile, police in Muchinga Province have arrested a man of Mutembo Village in Chief Muyombe’s area for allegedly killing his wife.

Lastone Musiya has been charged with murder after he beat his wife Loveness Tembo to death after the couple had picked up a quarrel last month.

Acting police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga said the Tembo had sustained serious body injuries and was initially admitted to Muyombe Health Centre where she later died.

In a related development Mr Hamoonga said a 48-year-old traditional healer in Mansa District has been arrested for murder following the death of a 64-year-old woman who had drunk traditional herbs from the traditional doctor.

Female Chishimba Mwansa is said to have prescribed the concoction commonly known as Kolola to Elizabeth Chanda and her nephew Dimus Chibwe all of village in Chief Kasomabangweulu.

Mr Hamoonga said Chanda died after taking the traditional herbs while Chibwe is currently receiving treatment from Samfya District Hospital.

The Zambia Police Service and the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) have resolved their differences and committed themselves to complement each other in enforcing road traffic rules.

The two law enforcement agencies recently differed on how to enforce the traffic rules with some quotas of society speculating that corruption was behind the tag of war.

But in a joint statement in Lusaka yesterday, acting police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga and acting RTSA senior public relations manager Frederick Mubanga said the two institutions would continue to work together.

The resolution was made after a consultative meeting on Friday which was called to discuss the differences.

Apparently someone is also enjoying “canal knowledge” of a got somewhere in the middle of Lusaka province, after having been told by Sangoma Maduma of Bulawayo that such an act will cure his incurable kaswende. Apparently now the got is infected with fimo fimo.
