Congo based TP Mazembe Zambian trio of Stoppila Sunzu, Rainford Kalaba and Nathan Sinkala are reported be in the treatment room because of injury and malaria putting them at risk of missing the crucial encounter against Brazil next Tuesday.
But information reaching the ZamFoot Crew indicates that the report is just a ploy by Mazembe to bar the players from joining the Chipolopolo camp owing to the Congolese club’s involvement in a Super Cup game on Saturday.
The three Chipolopolo players represented Mazembe in the CAF Cup on Sunday in Mali where Mazembe grabbed a vital away win with Kalaba registering his name on the score sheet.
However the TP Mazembe website now reports that Sunzu was injured during the game in the last 15 minutes when he was hurt by a Malian striker and seems to have reignited his nagging knee injury.
“After a heavy contact with a Malian striker in the last fifteen minutes of play, the central defender felt pain in the knee, the same one that was operated on in May.
“Not wanting to abandon his colleagues late in the game with all three changes already made, the defender continued to play.
“Fortunately for the TPM, the opponents have not noticed this handicap. Mazembe side, we hope that it does not worsen the situation by forcing his knee.”
“ After Tuesday morning review, it will in any case seven days off to recover before resuming training in Lubumbashi.”
On Kalaba, TPM reports that Patrice Carteron took a risk to play Kalaba despite him waking up with a fever on Sunday morning and the petit football genius still summoned enough resources to score the opening goal before being substituted in the 59th minute.
“The Zambian international had a fever throughout Sunday night into Monday. He was first examined in Bamako and the diagnosis is clear: malaria is the basis this state of restlessness.
The player is under special treatment since Monday night. The same is true for his Zambian compatriot Nathan Sinkala,” the update stated.
The three players were expected in the country today but were declared unfit by Mazembe on arrival from Mali.
They were expected to join up with the local players who will leave for China tomorrow (Wednesday) evening together with the TP Mazembe players. Mazembe were expected to release the players to be examined by the Zambian medical bench but they have not done so.

Here we GO again. Our Zambians Players JUST to rub shoulders with the Brazilians will improve their confidence levels and techniques.
The Govt., must step in. Brazil will NEVER forgive us if we play a second string team.
other countries will also be shunning us. Remember the Ghana Game in UK were Zambia ended up using students to fill up the void cause less players pitched up.

What is FAZ talking about this nonsense troublesome Katumbi? Are the players now permanently for him so that our football association can’t demand them? Does it mean our players are slaves now Katumbi is able to decide them what to

I have failed to understand why our brothers and sisters from Congo behave like that, No matter how good you would treat them they will pay you back evil. This is a very sad situation. This is one of the reasons for Zambians to be more united and quickly develop our country. For how long must we stand aside watching outsiders dancing on our heads.
