Jordan Friendly Back On as Beaumulle Recalls Felix, ‘Sate Sate’, Nshimbi

Football Association Zambia FAZ Spokesperson Eric Mwanza has stated that the match against Jordan which was initially scheduled to be played on Sunday 3rd November will now be played on Wednesday 6th November in Oman with interim coach naming a 26 man squad.

The team has seen the return of Stanley Nshimbi, Felix Katongo and Ronald Kampamba while Nchanga Rangers goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata as well as Power Dynamos Matthew Nkhowanni have also made the cut.

Chipolopolo captain Christopher Katongo, Kabwe Warriors coach Chintu Kampamba, Thailand based Noah Chivuta and Fwayo Tembo have also been named in the squad.

Below is the statement from FAZ:

“Following continued consultations on a new date for the international match against Jordan, the Football Association of Zambia is pleased to announce that this match will now be played on Wednesday 6th November in the Jordanian city of Amman.

“We stated in our statement yesterday that owing to the crucial phase the MTN Super League was at and the need for the local players to maximize on time and training so that it is hugely beneficial and valuable for the development of the local squad, the Zambia Development Team would not play Jordan on Sunday 3rd November 2013. However, after further consultations and looking at different options, we are pleased to announce that we are agreed to play Jordan on Wednesday 6th November in Amman,” the FAZ Communications Manager said.

“With this announcement, coach Patrice Beaumelle has called 26 players for this match.”

“The squad called will set the training camp in Lusaka on Sunday. We have made careful consideration of dates for this match so that we do not cause any disruption to the league in terms of player availability for their respective clubs as the season comes to a close but has many decisive matches related to the title race as well as relegation battles,” FAZ Spokesperson Erick Mwanza said.

“But its also important that we continue with our policy of international matches because that is the way to the top and high level competitiveness. As such, all players named in the squad are required to report to the camp at the end of this weekend’s games; on Sunday 3rd November in Lusaka. They will be released to their respective clubs soon after our delegation returns from Jordan so that they can be available for the other weekend fixtures.”

The Full Squad:

GoalKeepers: Davy KAUMBWA (Green Buffaloes), Joshua TITIMA (Power Dynamos), Toaster NSABATA (Nchanga Rangers)

Defenders: Kabaso CHONGO (TP Mazembe), Jimmy CHISENGA (Red Arrows), Chintu KAMPAMBA (Kabwe Warriors), Bronson CHAMA (Red Arrows), Christopher MUNTHALI (Nkana), Salulani PHIRI (Zanaco), Fackson KAPUMBU (Zanaco)
