THE Zambia national soccer team regrouped in Lusaka ahead of Wednesday’s international friendly match against Jordan, while skipper Christopher Katongo and midfielder Noah Chivuta are a doubt for the game.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) spokesperson Erick Mwanza said in an interview that Katongo, who plays for Henan Jienye of China, and Noah Chivuta, who plays for Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand, were yet to confirm their availability.
Mwanza said while the leagues for the two Chipolopolo players had come to an end, there had been no official communication from the duo on their availability for the game against Jordan that will feature mainly the locally-based players.
He said the players called to camp started regrouping in Lusaka yesterday and coach Patrice Beaumelle should have a full squad today when the Power Dynamos trio of goalkeeper Joshua Titima, Julius Situmbeko and Mathews Nkowane joins the team after playing for their club yesterday against Lime Hotspurs.
Mwanza said Football House was still sorting out the team’s flight details which might see the squad leave for Amman tonight.
The full squad has goalkeepers Davy Kaumbwa (Green Buffaloes), Joshua Titima (Power Dynamos) and Toaster Nsabata (Nchanga Rangers).
Defenders are Kabaso Chongo (TP Mazembe), Jimmy Chisenga (Red Arrows), Chintu Kampamba (Kabwe Warriors), Bronson Chama (Red Arrows), Christopher Munthali (Nkana) and Salulani Phiri (Zanaco).
Midfielders include Kondwani Mtonga (Zesco United), Rodrick Kabwe (Zanaco), Fackson Kabumbu (Zanaco), Noah Chivuta (Nakhon Ratchasima Fc, Thailand), Misheck Chaila (Konkola Blades), Shadreck Malambo (Red Arrows), Fwayo Tembo (Clubless), Bruce Musakanya (Red Arrows) and Julius Situmbeko (Power Dynamos).
Strikers are Christopher Katongo (Henan Jienye, China), Alex Ngonga (Nchanga Rangers), Ronald Kampamba (Nkana), Festus Mbewe (Nkana), Moses Phiri (Zanaco), Felix Katongo (Green Buffaloes), Stanley Nshimbi (Red Arrows) and Matthews Nkowane (Power Dynamos).
