Love Triangle In Luapula Turns Bloody

By MUBANGA NONDO
WHAT started as a mere scuffle in Chiengi, Luapula Province, turned bloody and tragic when a man and his lover killed the man’s wife. Police have since arrested the two.
Luapula Province police commissioner Malcolm Mulenga confirmed the development from Mansa yesterday, and identified the deceased as Jennipher Iwenga, 27, of Mukonko village in Chief Mununga’s area, while the suspects have been identified as Patrick Nsama, 35, of the same village and her lover as Helen Chipota, 27, of Kabwe village in the same chiefdom in Chiengi district.
Mr Mulenga said the incident happened on Friday last week, around 19:30 hours when the deceased followed her husband to Chipota’s house where she found the two in the house in a compromised state.
He said it was at this point that the deceased got angered and started a fight, but the villagers, however, managed to stop it.
Mr Mulenga said the deceased collapsed shortly after the fight and she was rushed to Kabwe clinic in the same area, where she died an hour later.
He said the body of the deceased was lying in St. Paul’s Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem to ascertain the actual cause of her death, while the suspects are in police custody to assist police with investigations.
Mr Mulenga said police in the area visited the scene and confirmed the report.
He said physical inspection on the body of the deceased revealed that she sustained bruises on the neck and face.
