Power Warn Nkana Ahead of Derby
Power Dynamos coach Tennant Chilumba has said Nkana will not have it easy when they meet in the Kitwe derby on Saturday at the Arthur Davies Stadium.
Faz Super League leaders Nkana visit their arch-rivals hoping to complete rare back-to-back wins in one season over Power.
The first game is still fresh in Chilumba’s memory, after losing 2-0 away to Nkana in July, in what was his third match in charge following his appointment in June.
Chilumba said 6th-placed Power were determined to finish the season inside the top eight, after a troubled run in 2013 for the six-time champions, that saw them fail to even make the cut for this year’s Barclays Cup.
“We are ready and we are very focused on this game and we want to get maximum points,”Chilumba said.
“I know they want to win this game but we will try to be on top of their game.”
The game is of greater significance for Nkana who know victory this weekend will see them lift the 2013 league title, with a match to spare.
In the first leg meeting, Nkana beat Power thanks to goals from striker Festus Mbewe and midfielder Kelvin Mubanga, to see them pick up only their second away win over Power since returning to the top flight in 2010.
