The University Teaching Hospital’s main operating Theatre has continued to operate with a skeleton staff following the dismissal of the nurses who went on strike.
UTH public relations officer Mwenya Mulenga has confirmed the development to told Qfm News that the operations at the Theatre became affected soon after the nurses started their strike.
Mr. Mulenga explains that the dismissal of some nurses has resulted in the main Theatre failing to operate to full capacity.
Mr. Mulenga has however refuted reports the Theatre has remained closed for a week due to the dismissal of nurses specialized operations.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mulenga says the Oxygen Plant which arrived in the country last week has been successfully installed at UTH.
Mr. Mulenga says the hospital is now waiting for the Zambia Bureau of Standards to certify plant before it becomes operational.

Nobody’s above the law, if those ****** nurses are re-instated, I will also go on an illegal strike and nobody should fire me. We can’t have such a country. Gov. employ other nurses.

It is rumoured that patients are being discharged prematurely and few days later, most of those discharged are being taken back as BIDs. Can the PF tell us who they are punishing by firing nurses if it is not the ordinary Zambian they pretend to be serving.
Anger destroys, it never builds. Please reinstate the nurses after all Shamenda lied to the nurses in the first instance!

Nurses went too far with their illegal strike. People died during that strike, some developed strokes because nurses were chanting, singing and making noise in hospital grounds.
Nurses are not being punished, they are being told in no uncertaiun terms that indiscipline of this nature will not be tolerated anymore in public service. They can re-apply for new jobs if they feel they are ready to serve the people and they need jobs to support their children. This lobbying through the social media for their re-instatements will yield nothing.

forgive them father for they did not know what they were doing.otherwise we are causing more injury to the innocent patient by keeping these well experienced counterparts out of employment.we are becoming the better killers us the employers.

They can re-apply. Those who want to be re-instated want their record purged of wrong doing despite their unbecoming conduct. Just re-apply and you will get your jobs back with new conditions. This is how unreasonableness can backfire!

Those fired nurses still have a lot of work to do in terms of patient care.Let them reach retirement age.You will just be shortening Gods purpose in their life to look after the sick. You will be judged for premature exit of the so much needed health workforce which led to a lot of BIDS.
