30 More Nurse Dismissed at UTH

UTH-ZambiaGOVERNMENT has dismissed 30 more nurses from the University Teaching Hospital for participating in an illegal strike.

Zambia Union of Nurses Organisation president Thom Yung’ana confirmed the latest dismissals saying the government did not finish the process of firing nurses.

“Yes, some nurses have been given dismissal letters. According to what we have been told, they (government) did not finish giving the letters to those that participated in the strike. We have been told that the first part was done and now this is the second and last part,” he said.

Yung’ana said about 30 nurses received dismissal letters on Monday, and more letters were expected yesterday.

And some nurses talked to said it was sad that the government had continued to fire them.
“Why should they honestly do this to us? Why didn’t they just give us at the same time, instead of waiting for two weeks? Some of us thought that they had finished firing nurses…It’s like the only thing they want to do is to punish us, they are forgetting that a lot of people are dying because the hospital has no nurses,” said one affected nurses.
A check at UTH yesterday found student nurses attending to patients in most wards while the theatres were closed

This is too much now. Doom to De civil service. If they ar given 0.05% increment in 2016 who is going 2 stand fo them, with their toothless and impotent union. Hiding in De name of illegal strike, is there any strike which is legal

    Cleansing process…. Lesson No 1.
Wen the public cry out over the ill treatment by these nurses, let a wise nurse watch out. this is the same public that voted in the PF.

Its pay back time. The nurses need to dance. If they want reinstatement let them bring back the people who died back to life. Why should they worry about the people now? they stayed illigally from work for ten days and they never thought about people. Let them go and eat their own vomit.

Only some one who promote illegality can support the dismissed nurses. They should not cry foul. Hakalichite

Generally the attitude of nurses leave much to be desired. They can be so cruel sometimes. We know they wanted money but surely doing this at the expense of life? Is this what they learnt from Florence Nightngale? (spelling).
