President Michael Sata has described as unfortunate that the constitution-making process has been hijacked by individuals whose objective is to embarrass, humiliate and politically undermine the sovereign will of the masses.
President Sata says the recent biased political manoeuvres surrounding the process confirm the ill-intentions of the persons at the helm of this misplaced crusade.
He says right from the start, the Government has been dedicated to the process, no wonder the committee handling the matter was left without any interference.
President Sata says it is clear that the well intended process has been hijacked to embarrass, humiliate and politically undermine the will and interest of the majority of Zambians.
He states that as elected representatives and custodians of the Zambian people’s interests, the PF government feels duty bound to protect the masses from those that have hijacked this noble process.
Mr Sata contends that with the current political schemes and ill-intentions, it will be highly irresponsible for the government as people’s representatives to authorise the release of this document before it goes through Cabinet.
The President says the country already has a functional constitution and the state will not be pushed into fast and reckless conclusions by individuals with dubious agendas.

you cannot claim to be custodians of a people who have lost faith and respect in you.the zambian people are responsible.enough to know what is good for them.the cabinet cant claim to more wise than all the poeple who want the final draft to be released to the public.you sir and you govt have lost relevance to the aspiratons of the zambian people.the sooner you wake up and realise that the better.stop living in a dream world wake up and smell the coffee before 2016 arrives upon you like a thief

Yes Government has to be pushed over the constitution. This is the top most document that is meant to guide everything in Zambia. It is a very important document and the Government has no right to treat it as if it is a personal document that belongs to the PF Government alone.

Giving the constitution to Pres. M.C.Sata to look at them first is the same as giving the 10 commandments to Satan to analyse them.
How do you trust Sata when he is just a letter away from Satan?

Here we go again.
Our president never ceases to amaze me.
This writing and most speeches are from HE George Chellah not the Chumbu Munshololwa.
Are we being ruled from Bwingimfumu Road or state house?????

As Citizens of this country we have every right to see the draft constitution. Why must it go to cabinet first? Cabinet is only supposed to approve or reject the constitution based on the Zambian people’s wishes.

Cycle Mata is like a raving lunatic! Yes govt will be held at ransom, hijacked and pushed not only by Civil society organisations but also by Zambians atlarge for 2 excellent reasons: 1. We put you and those fools you call a cabinet in power 2. Wether UPND,MMD,NAREP or watever you are using every zambian tax payers money. That being said you will be held at ransom the sooner you get over it the better!!!

who do you blame now for non performance, the school manager of the teachers themselves.
its so sad that even today we are still talking about the constitution, worse the process. 90 days of a constitution that will stand a test of time and represent peoples views has evolved into 3 years, very sad indeed. anyway time will surely tell

Yes time changes . The constitution is faulty when one uses opposition party glasses but just needs touches with ruling party ones . Its a key feature of Our African Politicians when an issue seems to put their leadership in question they’ll even kill the people who voted for them . Taona manje .
