New Zesco tariffs coming – ERB

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has completed reviewing proposed tariff increases by ZESCO Limited and Zengamina Power Limited.

ZESCO had proposed to increase its tariffs by an average of 26 percent while Zengamina Power proposed to increase its tariff by 36 percent to be effected in 2014.

ERB Public Relations Manager, Kwali Mfuni says the ERB is yet to announce the exact tariffs that have been approved for the two applicants.

Ms. Mfuni however indicated that the announcement of the approved electricity tariffs will be made soon.

Last year in November, Energy Minister, Christopher Yaluma had indicated that the approved increased in ZESCO electricity tariffs will be below the proposed 26 percent increment.

Shame on Sata and his PF for cheating Zambians. 2016 is coming. this will mean production cost will go up by 26% and then goods and services automatically will go up. vote for PF for lower taxes and more money in your pockets.

Our problem is that we accept whatever nonsense the Govt does. We should be protesting to some of the this shit. Tariff increments are always exorbitant. Salary increments, its 0.5%. Damn u PF. 2016 is coming.

@Kayula, I cant believe you have said that. What is wrong with one wanting a higher pay and allowances? Isnt that what we all strive to achieve? And why shouldn’t we involve the president because he is supposed to be answerable to each and everything that happens in PF and Zambia as a country? He is not in State House for a holiday my dear. That is why he gets a high salary and allowances through the taxes that we pay. In return we expect him to make our lives much more comfortable. If this doesn’t happen, then he has to be answerable!!

Life will be unbearable,so costly and we shouldn’t sit and wait for the ERB to announce and implement the proposed tariff.Lets protest against this, electricity is already very expensive.

Some people here behave as if they get handouts from the Government. From mealie meal to fuel and now to electricity and some people expect some of us not to complain. Do we grow money on trees? Is it a crime to be an honest hard working Zambian? Why does this country have respect for crooks than straight forward people? If one earns his/her money in a hard way and in a genuine way, one cannot sit at akimbo while things are increased every single day without any regards to anyone. Lets be serious.

Infact Sata must be very careful with KK. KK doesn’t mean well for this country. He wants Sata to fail because he failed himself based on what is happening now. Mark my words.

Chile 1, am able to afford Zesco bills even if they were to increase by 300%. But my our thoughts should also be for the low income takers, remember there is no MINIMUM WAGE WAGE IN ZAMBIA

The PF government has no capacity to govern our economy but they are good at harassing those who have what it takes to manage the Zambian resources .

FUNNY THING IS THAT I DO NOT NO ANYWHERE TO FIND LOWER ELECTRICITY TARIFFS THAN IN ZAMBIA.
MAYBE, THE SOUTHERN AFRICA POWER POOL(SAPP) SHOULD HARMONIZE TARIFFS BUT AGAIN THIS WOULD MEAN ZESCO HIKING BEYOND WHAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THEM BY ERB.
I DO NOT EXPECT PF GOVT TO REDUCE PRICES WHEN WORLD OVER PRICES ARE RISING.
    LET PROPHECY BE FULFILLED.

that’s a lie dip stick. I live in Rivonia in a three bedroomed unit and I use electricity extensively ( washing machine, drying machine, lawn mower, geyser and other common electric equipment. we are three staying at this unit. My electricity bill is always in the range of R300 rand to R350 rand whci is K150 equivalent per month.

If ZESCO was serious they would have worked on the expansion of their kariba hydro power to cater for the SADC region. Why is South Africa importing power from the DRC instead of Zambia. ZESCO doesn’t have the capacity to do that all they think about is salary increments. learn to make money outside than enslaving your own people.

Less money in our pockets, they are trying their means possible to grab even the little that we have remained with. Maize subsidy, fuel subsidy, toll gates, many to mention.

@Chile 1 : Your thinking capacity leaves much to be desired. What makes you think that anyone who complains about the wrongs the Government is doing is poor or doesn’t work hard? It is you who seem to be getting hand outs who cant complain when your hard earned money is abused. Ever heard of a saying “Easy Come Easy Go”? Moreover life is a vicious cirle…you ignore the suffering of the poor and one day u will be affected somehow. Your poor relatives will be making constant demands on you…the street keeps will eventually turn into criminals and rob your home….Hope what I have explained is not too hard for you to understand.
