2013 Grade 9 Examination Results Out

The 2013 Grade 9 Results have been released. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education- Dr John Phiri at a Press Briefing held today Thursday, 16th January 2014 at the Ministry of Education Headquarters in Lusaka.

353 443 candidates entered for the 2013 examination, of whom 183 331 were boys and 170 112 were girls. This represents an increase of 2.3% over the number that entered for the examination in 2012, which was at 345 565 candidates.

285 636 candidates sat for the examination, of whom 149 258 were boys and 136 378 were girls. This represents a decline in proportions of candidates that entered the examination from 84.26% in 2012 to 80.82% in 2013. 67, 807 candidates were absent from the examination, of whom 34 073 were boys and 33 734 were girls. This represents an increase in absenteeism rate from 15.74% recorded in 2012 to 19.18% in 2013.

All provinces recorded an increase in absenteeism rates, part from Muchinga Province which remained constant at 20.23%. Central Province recorded the highest absenteeism rates at 28.63%, with the lowest absenteeism rate being reported from Copperbelt Province at 12.81%. Central Province also recorded the highest increase in absenteeism at an increased rate of 7.44% from 2012 to 2013.The reduced number of candidates who sat for 2013 examination from 2012 can be attributed to increased absenteeism from the examination.

Please ensure that you obtain the results from the School where you wrote the examination from. No results shall be obtained from the Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education Headquarters or Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) Secretariat.

Grade 10 pupils are expected to report for class on Monday, 27th January 2014 and the Grace Period runs upto Monday, 10th February 2014.

What inspiration can the nation get from a std below par president heading a pack of pfools? With his ministers being labelled public i-d-i-o-ts by appointing authority and education being made a luxury, only more disaster awaits us with PF in charge.
