HH Denies Talking Chipimo Out of Alliance

United Party for National Development (UPND) Leader Hakainde Hichilema has refuted claims by some politicians that he is the one who talked out NAREP president Elias Chipimo Junior about being part of the opposition alliance.

Mr. Hichilema has told QFM News in an interview that he has at no time discussed the issue of the alliance with any opposition leader.

He states that although the issue of the alliance is a good idea, he has stopped negotiating in the media but prefers to play it in closed doors.

Mr Hichilema says claims that he influenced NAREP President Elias Chipimo to back out of the opposition alliance are baseless and lack credibility.

The UPND leader says people behind such claims are bent on bringing confusion to people who are working on a common goal of building the country.

Speaking in a separate interview, NAREP president Elias Chipimo Junior says he is not a kind of a person who can be incited by any politician to take certain decisions.

Mr. Chipimo notes that alliances can work only if parties in the alliance agree on the vision and values of the alliance.

The NAREP leader states that he has never been approached by the UPND leader to discuss the alliance.
