Red Arrows Drop Lwandamina

Red Arrows have sidelined coach George Lwandamina just two weeks before playing the season-opening 2014 Charity Shield.

Arrows media officer Lieutenant Misheck Kalembwe said in a statement that Lwandamina has been sent on administrative leave.

“The reason for the development is purely performance -based on the three seasons the duo have been at the club,” Kalembwe said.

However, Lwandamina last season led Airmen to their first Barclays Cup win despite finishing fourth on the table.

And Arrows have appointed assistant trainer’s Charles Kafula and ex-Zambia and Kaizer Chiefs striker Songwe Chalwe in interim charge of the team.

The duo will be in charge of Arrows for the February 1, Charity Shield semifinal match against Zesco United at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Meanwhile, Lwandamina joined Arrows in 2010 midway through that season after parting ways with Kabwe Warriors to save them from demotion and finish in 8th place.

Arrows later finished 2nd in 2011 and 4th in 2012.
