FAZ boss Kalusha Bwalya, also a TP Mazembe player scout, has ‘re-united’ with Katanga supremo Moise Katumbi at the Confederations of African Football (CAF) seminar on club licensing and professionalism ending today in South Africa’s coastal city – Cape Town.
Kalusha – a CAF executive committee member – has often triggered frosty relations with the TP Mazembe chief with the recent one involving the widely publicised controversy surrounding Chipolopolo trio Nathan Sinkala, Rainford Kalaba and Stophilla Sunzu.
The trio was embroiled in a club-country wrangle that saw them miss the Brazil international friendly and at the same time subjected the players to a criminal investigation with their passports confiscated for allegedly crossing the border in the Democratic Republic of Congo illegally.
Kalaba, Sunzu and Sinkala had reported to be injured but Kalusha and sports minister Chishimba Kambwili never bought into the TP Mazembe report creating a whirlwind that was later only settled by then home affairs minister Edgar Lungu.
Sunzu and Sinkala have since moved on to link up with former Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard at struggling French ligue one side Sochaux.
Yesterday, Kalusha met his boss at the CAF meeting in Cape Town where only Zesco United was representing Zambia from a field of 37 African football clubs.
The Confederation of Africain Football (CAF) organised a seminar on club licensing and professionalism in football from 30-31 January 2014 in Cape Town, South Africa.
