THE Livingstone Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 19 year old man to six years imprisonment with hard labour for house breaking.
Clement Nzala of Kapufi Road in Livingstone was on Monday this week charged with two counts of house breaking and theft contrary to Section 301 (a) and 272 of the Penal Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Appearing before Magistrate Edison Shanduba, the accused pleaded guilty to the two different counts of house breaking.
Particulars of the offence in the first count are that Nzala, jointly and whilst acting together with others, broke and entered the dwelling house of Aswell Kabolesha with intent to steal.
Nzala stole one suit case, one LG subwoofer speaker, one set of screw drivers, suits, HP laptop, adapter, lotion and DVD deck player, altogether valued at K3,895.00, the property of the Kabolesha.
Particulars of the offence in the second count are that Nzala, jointly and whilst acting together with others, broke and entered the dwelling house of Patrick Jere with intent to steal.
He stole one curtain, one television set, one remote control, one sweat shirt, one decoder, R12,000 , altogether valued at K10,500.00.
“In your own admission of guilt, I convict you accordingly,” Mr Shanduba said.
Nzala however said nothing in mitigation.
Mr Shanduba sentenced Nzala in the first count to four years with hard labour while in the second count, he sentenced him to two years with hard labour.
The two sentences will run consecutively.

Depending on character I would recommend rehab. Anyway, he’ll be 25 or below when he comes out. He can still fix his things, or come out of prison a hardened graduate professional. We need a system overhaul.
