85-year-Old Man Arrested For Defilement
A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl of Chief Liteta’s area in Chibombo has been defiled by an 85-year-old man who was taking care of her after her father went to fetch firewood.
Police have arrested the alleged perpetrator identified as Mbusu Nkhuma of Sokani Farms in Chibombo.
Central Province commissioner of police Standwell Lungu said yesterday that Nkhuma allegedly defiled the girl at Sokani Farm on February 2, this year.
“What we have learnt is that the girl was left with this old man by her father who went to fetch firewood. She was staying with her father and her mother is here in Kabwe because they are not living together,” Mr Lungu said.
The victim is currently admitted to Kabwe General Hospital where she is undergoing treatment after she was defiled.
Earlier, a Kabwe resident, Fredrick Mulando, said he learnt of the defilement of the girl with shock and alleged that the victim’s father wanted to conceal the offence.
“I could not hold back my tears when I spoke to the two-year-old girl who had been defiled and is currently in Kabwe General Hospital,” Mr Mulando said.
He said the information he gathered was that the victim had also been infected with a sexually transmitted disease.
And in Mumbwa, an eight-year-old girl has allegedly been defiled by a 38-year-old man whom the police have named as Alex Moyo.
Mr Lungu said the victim was defiled around 21:00 hours at Nangoma Market on Sunday.
“The minor was enticed with biscuits and we have made arrests,” he said.
Mr Lungu said the perpetrators in both cases are expected to appear in court soon.

People who read newspapers and online news know that defilement is a serious crime,but those that do not have the information have continue to commit the offences. Please I urge the NGOs to sensetise the rural areas the gravity of these offences.These cases of defilement in rural areas are taking place every day without the report reaching the Police stations. Sleeping with a child with four years is a serious crime which should see someone going to jail for life. The punishment has been stiffen, but some idiots have continued to abuse the children. The question is why

This reminds me, what has happened to General Kanene? The last time I checked he was appealing to know the real age of the girl he defiled.
And one wonders why some ****** men are still continue defiling kids even after learning of the fate of the General Kanenes of this world!! I agree with everyone here, I think the law must be made stiffer than just jail sentence. Maybe life sentence.
