Opposition MPs Disrupt Parliamentary Business Again

Opposition Members of Parliament have for a second day disrupted Parliamentary business over the new constitution.

When business of the house resumed this afternoon after yesterday’s premature adjournment, one after the other opposition Members of Parliament rose on points of order to demand the issue of the constitution to be addressed as opposed to what was on the order paper.

The situation got out of hand when it came to the questions for oral answer session as opposition lawmakers boycotted the session demanding the issue of the new constitution to be addressed.

Efforts by Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini to remind the opposition Members of Parliament that their conduct was disorderly and not allowed by the standing orders of the house proved futile.

The opposition lawmakers also ignored appeals by the Speaker to take their seats in order for normal business of the house to continue prompting the suspension of the proceedings.

The opposition MPs refused to take their seats demanding instead that National Assembly Police who they referred to as strangers leave the chamber.

As all this was going on some Patriotic Front Members of Parliament could be heard passing running commentaries against their opposition counterparts.

The opposition mps are this time write, The President of the republic of Zambia Mr Michael Sata a people driven Constitution wen was in Opposition. What has changed now, does this mean that the Constitution we have today favours the ruling party? Why are we going to be living in a Nation were only a few people benefits the most? Mr President sir, work on getting rid of some of your personal advisers, this is not you. I personally think you are surrounded by wrong people. We need the Sata we we knew in Opposition.

Constitution, constitution Constitution, constitution Constitution, constitution……Watile ukatupela constitution in 90 days and it will be people driven. We as Zambians can not be taken for a ride by asking us to show HEMCS the animal driven constitution before he gives us ours. This is unacceptable and the MPs are right and they should continue boycotting business in the house.

@Cecil, how can you say this my bro? How can you encourage lying and all that? Here is news for you – there are people out there who are honest and will always stand by their word. If Mandela did it, why cant someone in Zambia do it too. We will continue searching until we find such a person to lead us. Until then, we will be changing presidents like shirts!! It is people like you who encourage wrong doing and it is not right.

Have you ever looked at the PF Manifesto? Does it say PF will pass the “Running mate” crap. Does it say that elections will be won by 50+1? The answer is NOOOOOO! READ.

How do you have constructive dialogue when President Sata doe not want to listen to the people. He clearly said “ignore those people talking about the constitution”. What that means is that he is a dictator and does not want to be involved in reasonable discussion or hear any ones opinions
