Woman Raped, Murdered in Luanshya

A 45-YEAR-OLD woman of Luanshya’s Kawama has been raped and murdered by unknown people, Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa has said.
The woman has been identified as Felistus Namwinga.
Ms Kasosa said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened around 16:00 hours on Tuesday on the path between section 24 Tavern and Kawama market.
Ms Kasosa said police suspect that Ms Namwinga was murdered while on her way from home to Kawama market where she traded from.
She said Ms Namwinga’s bicycle and mushroom were found at the scene.
“We have picked up a body of a woman aged between 40 and 45 and we suspect she was strangled by her assailants and raped,” Ms Kasosa said.
She said Ms Namwinga sustained bruises on her neck and she bled from her genitals.
Ms Kasosa said police are yet to make arrests and have instituted investigations into the matter.
“I have instructed the officers in the province to do a thorough investigation on the scene of the crime so that we can quickly get rid of these bad elements,” Ms Kasosa said
The body is in Roan General Hospital awaiting post-mortem and burial.

Seems it’s a case by the same people and they need to be flushed out quickly. Either a rapist/rapists on the lose. Gender based violence should not be tolerated. Women should be cautioned to travel in pairs. People need to come forward if they know anything.
