The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested two members of the same family and a 28 year-old business woman of Kanyama for trafficking in narcotic drugs.
In the first count, Lameck Silwizya, 27, a businessman of 2141 Kabanana Township in Lusaka has been arrested and jointly charged with his 18 year old sister of Chipata Compound for trafficking in cocaine weighing 1.117kg and heroin weighing 144g.
In the second count, Lameck Silwizya has been arrested and jointly charged with Mary Miselo, 28, a business woman of 1216 Kanyama Compound in Lusaka for trafficking in cocaine weighing 6.1g.
Two motor vehicles, a Nissan Atlas and a Toyota Corolla have since been seized by the Commission from the three suspects.
Meanwhile the Commission has in the last five days arrested over twenty people countrywide for unlawful cultivation and trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.
Those arrested include Fredrick Ngulube, 22, a peasant farmer of Kalalangabo Farm in Central Province for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 150kg and Laybim Manda, 42, a peasant farmer of Mulunda village in Chipata District for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 4.40kg.
All suspects will appear in court soon.
