Three pastors have been robbed at an overnight prayer meeting at Shalom Church in Lusaka’s notorious Chibolya township.
The clergymen of Solwezi were sleeping in a car when robbers armed with a firearm and iron bars forced them out and went off with the vehicle and other items.
Police assistant public relations officer Rae Hamoonga said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that police are investigating the aggravated robbery which occurred around 02:00 hours yesterday.
Mr Hamoonga said Graham Mukie and two other pastors had broken off from the overnight prayers to sleep in the car, a Toyota Regius.
“The pastors were attacked while they were sleeping in their vehicle when the criminals forced them out of the car and went away with their items,” he said.
Mr Hamoonga said the vehicle was later abandoned at a nearby filling station in the area but that the criminals went away with various items, which included five pairs of shoes, clothes, phones, a briefcase and a travelling bag which contained clothes.
