Girl Defiled, Murdered
ANOTHER girl has been murdered in Lusaka and it is suspected that she was defiled before being killed.
She is the second girl murdered in such circumstances in Lusaka within a week and there have been similar murders of girls on the Copperbelt in recent weeks.
In this latest murder, police picked the body of the 13-year-old girl which was found by passers-by near Zambezi market in Ng’ombe Township.
Police spokesperson Charity Chanda said it is suspected that the juvenile was defiled before being murdered.
She said the police found used condoms besides the body at the crime scene.
“The girl went missing on March 30, 2014 and was only discovered today [yesterday] 1st April around 06:00 hours by passers-by in Ng’ombe,” she said.
She said that the deceased was wearing a black skirt and a white shirt and has been identified.
“As Zambia Police, we are concerned about the number of dead bodies that have been picked in different places in Lusaka. We have, therefore, intensified patrols in all parts of Lusaka,” Mrs Chanda said.
Mrs Chanda said investigations into the matter have been instituted to bring the perpetrators to book.
The body of the girl is in the University Teaching Hospital mortuary.
She appealed to the general public for information that may lead to the apprehension and prosecution of the murderers.

What a sad story. However, I have a concern, as you driver around in Lusaka roads you come across road checks with over 6 police officers manning them (which I know there is more benfit). Is this not misplaced man power. Some of these officers are supposed to be patrolling at night and we can reduced on some of these murders

Its only in Zambia where a man rapes a woman and get away with it despite leaving behind used condoms with his semen in it, in my native USA the rapist/killer can be arrested within two working days using forensic science.

Take the used condoms to the Forensic Labs and identify the culprits.
