Simataa Tells Off Mahtani “I’m Not on Your Payroll”

Former Finance bank executive Simataa Simataa has dared businessman and Finance Bank chairman Rajan Mahtani to go ahead and take legal action but be ready to stand the heat of the exposure of his alleged money laundering activities.
Mathani is demanding K1 billion from Simataa for disclosing negative information in the Lusaka High Court contrary to an agreement he allegedly signed to keep quiet about the affairs of the bank after he left in 2007.
Speaking to the Daily Nation, Simataa said he was not scared by threats from Mahtani because he was not on his pay roll and that he had not signed an agreement to cover up wrong doing.
He has now challenged Mahtani to proceed to courts if he was man enough so that the whole truth about the bank could come out.
Simataa has dared Mahtani and his lawyers to go ahead saying the truth will set both Mahtani and himself free as Zambians would now know the truth which was buried for a long time.
“I dare him to be brave enough and proceed to court so that we can settle this matter once and for all like men. What surprises me about this whole issue is that I received the letter on Friday and I did not make copy of it and handled it over to my lawyers but it is all over on online publications.
“I hope he is not as usual playing to the gallery. I am a serious person and I don’t entertain his jokes,” he said.
Simataa explained that he has never heard someone guarding someone hiding good news about the other party, adding that it would be in Mahtani’s interest and the nation to know the truth over the K1 billion (K1 million).
He wondered why Mahtani would pay him K1 billion to keep quiet.
“Rajan Mahtani should explain to the public why he would pay K1 billion (K1 million now) to keep me quiet. He should explain to the people of Zambia what is it that I know about him and his dealings worth that colossal sums of money, assuming the contract he claims I have breached to guard me,” Simataa dared Mahtani.
Simataa warned that he would not allow Mahtani to threaten him because he was not on his pay roll, adding that he has never been on his pay-roll.
He explained that it was unfortunate that in his letter of claim which he only received on Friday, Mahtani was referring to statements he had made before the courts of law of which his (Mahtani) defense lawyers had an opportunity to cross examine him, adding that in one instance they chose not to.
“Let me remind Rajan in case he has forgotten that it was payment in settlement of a case I raised against Finance Bank for constructive dismissal, and that payment was in lieu of me withdrawing the case in court and never seeking to resurrect it,” he said.
Simataa a sports administrator said Mahtani should be aware now that, “The matter would definitely come back from the dead when we meet in court.
“And in light of what has been published I have asked my lawyers to look at the possibility of defamation on his part because in that letter they are simply implying that I was paid to keep quiet when it was in settlement of a court case which did not include my pension plus that of 360 others which is still in the Courts of law right now.”
When contacted for a comment, Mahtani’s lawyer John Sangwa refused to comment saying as advocates they do their work in courts of law and not through newspapers.
A letter of demand written to Simataa issues a seven-day ultimatum to pay back K1 million (K1 billion) with interest for breaching the agreement in which the former banker allegedly undertook not to reveal any negative information about the bank.
“Our instructions are to demand from you the refund of the said amount of K1 million within seven days from the date of the letter. If this does not happen, or we do not get a reasonable proposal on how you intend to repay this money we have instructions to commence legal proceedings against you to recover the same,” the letter stated.
Mahtani has demanded the return of the money because Simataa has testified in the Lusaka High Court revealing grave internal banking irregularities reported in the Daily Nation last week.
According to evidence Simataa laid in court, two employees of Finance bank were also signitories to the hotelier, a company that Mahtani has sued for debt.

Uyu mwenye alingila mupocket! He is at a stage where he thinks he is untouchable since this government came into office. Why did Pf give him back the bank when there were shadey deals the previous government was investigating? Matahni is a sleazy character who should be put away for all the ills he has been involved in through a succession of governments!

How many Zambians own an institution like a Bank more than 45 years after independence? None! Just remain with your tembaz!

@diaspora! Zambia is for dark skinned people, not indians, even if they have bought citizenship we will consider them as foreigners and second class citizens just like blacks in Europe are treated. We are even fair coz in Europe, America and Asia blacks are treated like door mats!

Rather cheap threat by this simataa fellow; if he was aware of wrongdoing by mahtani then and kept quiet, what makes him think he is not just as culpablehimself today? In my view, his threat to squeal is as good as an admission of guilt.

@C-5, right on the head. A few weeks ago I wrote a brief analysis of Smater, who has now been out-smarted in the soccer arena.
Smater, you cannot now want to start revealing things because someone has a case against you. As already said, by virtue of you doing so means you are guilty of offences the two of you were committing.
The only thing I see here is that one of the two men is in dire need of cash and that can only come through what we see in movies, someone threatens to spill the beans if a kama payment is not made shani. Smater has leverage which if he spills will be damaging..but what he is forgetting is that part and parcel

Dear Readers, let us learning to respect each other on this web site. There’s no need of fighting or exchanging bad words for the things that won’t profit u anything. Hope u ll give support on this point. Now come to the issue, I think simataa is right to say mahtani is a croock & its this croocked business that he has accumulated a lot of money from. Let me just brief you of wat is happening now in one of his company ; Zambezi portland cement, barely two weeks ago, two trucks belong to zpc was impounded in Kitwe by traffic police officer for transporting maize in black number. When the driver was asked they said these trucks belong to Rajan mahtani, officers were doing their duties bt things backfired on them when da driver called his boss MR Nyirongo who later called the IG libongani. Libongani shouted @ the officer on driver’s cell & she ordered to the officer to release the trucks immediately. Surely, are u telling me that Rajan is helping to maintain peace by frustrating public officers like that. Log in face book search for Zambezi portland cement and see what is happening than to be told.

mahtan does not mean well; here in zambia he is a king maker. It’s FTJ and RB who almost squeezed his …….., this time he’s untouchable; even the pf judiciary bench can’t do anything to him. I doubt if there are beneficiaries of his ‘loans’ to to talk about; most of those who borrow from his bank end up miserable. The govt even allows his bank to keep govt revenue; no wonder our govt will remain poor. Rajan makes cool cash by keeping your money by even a mere 30 dys. It would have been better if it was a zambian owned bank like Investrust. Ask the malawian govt why they chased him from there. Muli ndwii, wake up zambians.
