The protesters are calling for Vedanta and the Zambian government to release KCM’s annual reports that contain figures on profits and tax payment, which were currently kept secret.
“Figures from Vedanta’s own documents, revealed in the report, suggest that KCM made $362 million in 2013, contrary to its own claims that it was making a loss and may need to be saved by the Zambian government,” Foil Vedanta stated in part. “In the UK, Foil Vedanta will continue to echo the calls of parliamentarians and financiers to formally investigate and bring Vedanta to trial for its environmental and humanitarian crimes and poor corporate governance.”
Foil Vedanta noted that since its report was published in late January, Vedanta executives had visited Zambia more than four times, and claimed that the report was misleading and incorrect.
“However, as of yet no evidence has been presented by Vedanta to dispute the figures and other claims presented in the report,” it noted in part.
GOVERNMENT SHOULD COME OUT ON THIS ISSUE. Umukuba Basenda Without Us Benefiting!

Who is fooling who? The docility of Zambians is disarming! That we can allow these Indians to hoodwink this government about the monies they are making and the government just take it as gospel truth and continue without batting an eyelid is most unfortunate. We need a revival of that nationalistic spirit where the love of the motherland should reign supreme!

ZCCM HI has about 25% of shares in KCM and this obviously means that ZCCM has a number of people representing it.I also understand that, a good number of indivodual Zambians are involved in the running of KCM. I think we should not direct our anger at the indians but instead reflect on how patriotic we are to this great nation of ours. I tell you, my fellow patriots that our country is really in need of its citizens to be patriotic not just ordinary citizens.I pray that where ever you are reading this text from, you will change things around you and later on add to the development of our only mother ZAMBIA.

It is saddening indeed to see and hear what is happening at KCM. The problem we have are two fold;
Firstly, those of our people who have positions in these mining companies are sellouts! They are unpatriotic! It is not only at KCM but even at mopani. You must not look further to see how these guys are worshiping these investor handymen like they are gods. Even as educated as they purport to be, they are treated like fools, allowing such because they fear to loose employment. If these are the educated we had before independence, Zambia would be 50 years before gaining independence. As a native Zambian customer/complainant facing these black Zambian managers/bosses, you are greeted with English and confusing explanations you have never heard before to the point you feel insulted. You will even be presented before muzungus to display your ignorance.
Secondly and most important, we have so much politicized important issues in this country. Those in government have always displayed a know it all attitude. If you are not friendly to those in the corridors of power, what ever you say is seen as a challenge to those in power and they will close their ears to any facts as long as these facts are from opposition. The basungus have noted this ‘fight’ and have taken it to their advantage. We who are outside have seen dirty things happening and all that we do is just remain with a bleeding heart as no one can hear you since you either are a nonentity or perceived to be opposition. The Vice presidents office, ministries of mines, commerce& industry and finance are to blame for this mess. LESA TATA, INTERVENE IN YOUR OWN WAY AS WE SEEM NOT TO KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE EDUCATION AND POLITICAL BLESSINGS YOU HAVE ABUNDANTLY BLESSED US WITH.

Most of the strange and questionable dealings at this mine are now common knowledge.Trouble is we Zambians are lethargic and too slow is making quick decisions.Look at Chingola now;it is quickly becoming a ghost town- and will soon surpass Lya.Why are we watching ‘this house burning’?

We have big and huge problem, these mines in Zambia cant build a secondary school, a hospital even a university. Can we go to UK, USA, India, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Australia, Germany, Peru, Paraguay etc mine copper there as Zambia mining company and never put up nice and long lasting infrastrcture in that particular?
If these guys have been stealing our copper, gold and other minerals and if they did a lot of things for us Zambians, hey it was going to be very gud for Zambia. Look at Solwezi, the general hospital, even just the mine clinic is pathetic. Anyway it pains me. We have pathetic leadership in place.

this is what privatization can do when you do it with your eyes closed, the whole of the mining sector is greatly stealing from us foolish Zambians, we do things to embrace,imprace and for our own selfish needs with our families,if we consider the most poor child in the most remote area of this nation then we would ve been doing things with our eyes open,for now let us jst focus on doing our best for our families and wish all the best to the most poor child in the remote areas of this nation whose been deprived of a better health center,better schools and access to a better diet,these children are suffering on the expense of a few selfish individuals whose plyt is to enrich themselves instead of representing the poor and speaking for them,not matter the harm they will coz to the poor,the fever of god will always be upon them.these investors are bargaining from this nation not because they are here to steal but because of the poor monitoring and the corruption between them and the monitors.in a class room,if the monitor makes a lot of noise then the whole class will be noisy but if the monitor is quite then the whole class will be quite and if one one pupil tries to make noise in a quite class that pupil must be aware of the monitors presence hence that pupil will not make noise.in Zambia both monitors(CORRUPT) and investors(BARGAINING) are noisy.god bless the affected and Zambia.
