US Embassy Challenged to Substantiate Its Crime Alert For Zambia

The Zambian Voice has called on the media to be cautious of how they depict Zambia both locally and to the international community.
The civil society organization has fears that if the media is not careful it may dent the image that the country holds of being a peaceful and democratic country.

Executive Director Chilufya Tayali says much as the country has been experiencing political targeted violence the media should be cautious not to blow such violence out proportion in their reporting to avoid situations some countries such as the US begin to think that there is civil unrest in the country.

In an interview with Qfm news Mr. Tayali has also challenged the US embassy in Lusaka to substantiate its crime alert message to its citizens about increased crimes of car hijacks, assaults and burglaries in Zambia.

Mr. Tayali says the US embassy in Lusaka should give a report on what it is basing such increases of such crimes in the country as his organization is of the view that Zambia still maintains its peace despite a few reports of targeted political violence.

The biggest problem is the holiganism at the instigation of the political party in power. it seems we are back to tha days when kaunda had his so called vigilantes but times have changed and Zambians this time around won’t seat back and watch as they are being victimised by stupid holigans.

Most PF cadres are blind and full of lies like this Tayali. The US does value it’s citizens’ lives unlike your blood thirsty PF which does not care about loss of life. people are being robbed each day and violence is the order of the day under PF and you are denying it. shame on you.
