Jailed singer General Kanene’s father Leonard Dimba has revealed his son has three wives and six children who plays the role of a breadwinner.
General Kanene was recently slapped with an 18-year jail sentence for defilement.
His father says the development has brought a lot of misery to his family because Kanene was the breadwinner.
According to The Post, Dimba says the sentence was as though his son had committed murder.
He said in an interview from his home in Lusaka’s Misisi compound on Monday that Kanene’s conviction was not fair.
Dimba, who was with his wife, said the family depended on Kanene for sustenance.
“My wife and I are not in employment. We depend on Kanene. He feeds us with the money he makes from music shows,” Dimba, a retiree, complained.
He said Kanene, 29, has three wives and six children.
Dimba said the parents of the girl whom Kanene is said to have defiled failed to prove her exact age, arguing that she could be over the age of 16.
He complained that medical experts did not examine the girl and that she looked older than the purported age despite being short.
“The girl’s parents couldn’t produce birth certificates of their daughter. They said that all her birth records were burnt in the house where they lived in Choma but we know it’s all lies because not even a police report was produced,” he explained.
Dimba further claimed that the girl was old enough and she had been patronising drinking places for a long time.
“In fact, we used to drink with her in one of the bars here.
Some three – four years ago, she would come in a bar with a baby and a friend. She likes dancing in bars. She was also Kanene’s dancing queen, hence many people around here know her very well,” he added.
Dimba also narrated that at first, the girl’s father went to complain to him (Dimba) that Kanene had abducted his daughter but later changed that he had defiled her.
Dimba, who later broke down, said God would be the final judge on the matter because it was not as though his son had committed murder.
Kanene’s brother, Honest, had the same complaint, saying his brother’s 18-year jail sentence was too much as the girl’s age had not been established.

If what Kanene’s father is saying is true,then the boy in my view deserves to be acquited for with.Besides that Birth records could obtained at the Passports & Citizenship (NRC) Chief registrar’s office near Inter-city bus station in Kamwala.Then if the short girl was a dancing queen,it therefore tells a lot of stories.The girl is simply old enough though short in stature.What about those small girls below 16years with pregnancies in Chipulukusu,Kanyama,Misisi ,sinia etc who are responsible for those tumimba/utufumo?.Why are the men who pregnanted these little ones still walking freely and are not behind bars? But guys honestly speaking I smell a rat in kanene’s sentencing…bcoz this girl is old enough en if the certificates were burnt..why did the court ask where the girl was born from so that the get the other preserved records of uder five…they was no solid evidence to convict Dimba…anyway am not saying I like what kanene did but even him deserves fair trial with solid evidence…can ba supreme court where he appealed do something kanshi…let’s be fair Judges in courts of law…

Starting with the insinuation of already waywardness by the girl patronizing bars, then families feuding over earlier abduction maybe because one did not want her to end as fourth wife, conveniently burnt documents to hide age, through court failure for hard evidence and recognizing a love relationship existing between GK and the girl there is something definitely fishy here as nothing reasonably adds up for the jailing! Tribunal or commission of enquiry comprising all bloggers contributing on this matter!

There is just need to make followups on this girl and the family come up with a social status report and throw it at Kaoma, from the way I see it, Dimba has been jailed because of Kansapato, remember that this Mag almost revoked his bail not until laws came in and argued that there was no correlation betwn the song and the girl??? So ni kakonkko from the Mag…thats it. To make matters worse this same Mag is a researcher for the same high court judge that confirmed Dimba’s case.
