THE Zambia under-20 national team left for Mozambique yesterday with coach Hector Chilombo targeting a win in tomorrow’s 2015 Africa Youth Championship first round first leg.
In an interview at Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Chilombo said the technical bench has faith in the team.
“I will be satisfied if we can get a win so that we can ease the pressure when we host them [Mozambique] in the return leg. This match against Mozambique is a big clash.
“It will definitely mark a start of good things to come if we can get an away win. If we do well there [Maputo], it will show we are getting somewhere. We have to remain focused to achieve our target of qualifying for the finals,” Chilombo said.
He, however, predicted a tough encounter against the Mozambicans.
“There will be a big difference playing in Maputo but the good thing is that we have enough talent to go there and win. We have a full complement of players. The boys have shown commitment in training and I believe we will go and compete in Maputo,” the Napsa Stars coach said.
The match is billed for Machava Stadium.
Football Association of Zambia executive committee member Jeff Chipilingu is delegation leader.
The 19th edition of the Africa Youth Championship finals will be held from March 8 to 22 in Senegal.
