Don Carlos Postponed Due To Confusion, Jah Night Date Set

AFTER the confusion caused by the organisers of the Don Carlos Harvest Time Concerts which forced the annual Bob Marley memorial Show that is held around this time of the year to be postponed, the date for the Jah Night has been set.

Organisers for the Don Carlos shows, Genius Riddims sparked confusion in the reggae ranks when they set May 9 – 11 as the dates for their concerts.
All local reggae fans know these to be dates when Jah Entertainment and Holy Mount Zion organises the Jah Night, by far the largest reggae show in the country.
It is doubtful whether consultations were made, otherwise, there would have been some forms of compromise, and the confusion would have been avoided.
But it is not a small disruption as it might appear.
Having set the Don Carlos shows on the Jah Night dates, Genius Riddims announced in a terse statement during the week that the shows have been postponed to next week.
By then, some entertainment pages had gone to bed while reggae fans had definitely marked the weekend for the Don Carlos shows.
Jah Entertainment and Holy Mount Zion had also rightly put the Bob Marley show on hold to give room for Don Carlos; in any case, it’s the same fans likely to attend both events, and trying to split them is not the wisest thing for the reggae family.
That is why Jah Night has been set for May 31.
Meanwhile, a statement obtained by the Weekend Mail from the Don Carlos show organisers just says: “Genius Riddims Promotions Limited and World Masters Freight Logistics Limited wish to inform the general public about the change in dates for the upcoming Don Carlos Harvest Time Concerts which were scheduled to be held on 9th, 10th and 11th May in Lusaka, Kitwe and Livingstone respectively. The new dates are 16th, 17th and 18th May, beginning with Lusaka, then Kitwe and finally Livingstone.”
The statement, signed by Genius Riddims Promotions managing director Marvin Kamambo, further says “Don Carlos and the Dub Vision, Promoters and Sponsors of this event wish to express sincere apologies for this development. However, tickets and venues remain valid. We look forward to seeing you at the show.”
