Police Detain 5 Students Over Forgery

Five students from Kasama School of Education have been detained by police to help with investigations into a case of forgery and uttering documents.
Confirming the development in an interview, Northern Province police commissioner, Charity Katanga, said the four students allegedly uttered a bank deposit slip worth K12,000 meant for their school fees.
Katanga named the four second-year students as Mary Namusokkwe, 21, of Mbala ZNS camp ; Eusebious Changala, 28, of Chawe village in Mbala; Kaunda Jimmy, 24, of Mbala hospital compound, and Sydney Chibesa, 22, of Malambwa compound in Mpika.
“We have detained five second-year students of Kasama School of Education for forgery and uttering documents; we want them to help with investigations… they presented an altered bank deposit slip to their school management purporting to have paid K12,000 into the school account when in fact not. They were hoping to get a receipt for the forged document, but fortunately the school management noticed the altered figure and reported to the police. The incident happed on 4th May this year,” she explained.
Katanga, however, said police had launched a manhunt for Gilbert Musukwa, the mastermind who is at large.
“The other person who is actually the mastermind of the whole issue is at large. He lied to them that once their plan goes through, he would help them get scholarships from FAWEZA (Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia),” Katanga said.
