President Sata Pardons 365 prisoners

President Michael Sata has pardoned 365 prisoners on this year’s African Freedom Day commemoration using his presidential powers vested in him by article 59 (d) of the country’s constitution.
According to a Gazette Notice No.285 of 2014 availed at the African Freedom Day Investiture ceremony held at State House yesterday and obtained by Qfm news, out of the 365 prisoners 83 are from the Copperbelt region, 56 from Central region, 49 from Eastern region and 47 from Western region.
Others are 36 from Northern region, 34 from Southern region, 22 from Luapula, 20 from North Western region and 18 from Muchinga region.
And President Sata has bestowed the President’s Medal of Gallantry first division to a Justin Muwana.
The President has also bestowed the Companion Order of Freedom first division Medal to Cyprian Mulonda, Roy Chileshe, Paul Chisanga Jere, Frank Mulenga, Monica Nanyangwe Chintu, Veronica, Doris Mukuku Chimanyika and Tyson Chamina, who is also Chief Nkambo, to be Grand Commanders of the Companion Order of Freedom.
The Head of State has also conferred the Order of Distinguished Service to Gabibie Namakando Nawa posthumously and Dr. Mutumba Mainga Bull who have both become Grand Commanders of the Order of Distinguished Services.
