Some Christian Preachers Confuse People – Bishop Lungu

Chipata Diocese Bishop George Lungu says the messages that come from some Christian preachers confuse people.
And the Vatican’s Ambassador to Zambia and Malawi Archbishop Julio Murat says the Diocese of Chipata is blessed in diverse ways.
During a sermon delivered at the dedication of the Church and blessing of the Monastery of Our Lady Queen and Gate of Heaven for the Benedictine sisters in Msupadzi area on Friday, Bishop Lungu said it was unfortunate that there was religious confusion even within the African society.
Bishop Lungu said there was, for example, religious confusion with regards to the true identity of Jesus Christ and that further, proclaiming salvation was life threatening to humanity.
“Unfortunately, even in our African society, that first president Kenneth Kaunda once described, as ‘notoriously religious’ we are experiencing religious confusion with regard to the true identity of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, within the mushrooming of religious sectors, the ministries that are multiplied particularly at a fast rate and the outbreak of different types of pastors, evangelists, bishops and archbishops,” he said. “That’s why it is so important to take note of what Jesus Christ asked over 2,000 years ago, ‘Who do you say I am?’ is still valid up to now.”
Bishop Lungu said in the world today, people still believed that money was the messiah that can save them from all their life challenges.
“They people still believe that science and technology is their messiah, their scientist and their prophet,” he said.
Bishop Lungu said the blessing of the Church was a special occasion as it coincided with the 25th anniversary of late Pope John Paul II’s trip to Zambia and also the country’s 50 years of independence.
And Archbishop Murat said the Diocese of Chipata was blessed with many vocations apart from having many good lay people who believe in worshipping the Lord.
Archbishop Murat noted that Chipata Diocese was the only one with an auxiliary bishop in the country and that was why more people from the area needed to join religious life.
The event was followed with the profession vows for Benedictine sisters at the same church yesterday.

It hurts when the preacher tells us the truth which we were not expecting to hear.
