Scientist Find Possible Cure For HIV

An HIV and AIDS scientist has given hope that there is possibility a cure for the virus that causes AIDS could be found.
Dr. Robert Schooley who is a professor of medicine at the university of California in San Diego – USA says scientists have come to understand the way the virus operates in the human body.
Dr. Schooley who is in Zambia attending the 8th international workshop on HIV treatment, pathogenesis and prevention research has told Zambian journalists that there are two cases in the US and Germany where a man and a baby have reportedly been cured of HIV.
He says this gives great hope that science can make a breakthrough in research for a cure.
Dr. Schooley however, says it may take time for the breakthrough to come but notes scientists should work towards finding a cure.
Reports indicate that a Berlin man was cured of HIV recently after undergoing bone marrow transplant while a baby in the U.S was also cured immediately after it was born with the virus.
And a team of specialized medical experts from different health institutions in the country is at the Livingstone General Hospital to help offload a backlog of patients who need surgical operations.
The team which is called ‘Medical Jubilee Celebration’ was formed following President Michael Sata’s request for all ministries to come-up with activities leading to the culmination of the country’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Group leader Muhumpu Kafwamfwa, who is also Ministry of Health Deputy Director for Emergency Services, says the medical team will conduct surgical operations in all provinces.
Dr. Kafwamfwa has disclosed that Southern Province alone has over one hundred and thirty patients that are on the waiting list for different surgical operations, both major and minor.
The medical practitioner was speaking in an interview with Tv2 News at Livingstone General Hospital today.

Dr. Kafwamfwa says his team, comprising surgeons, urologists, physicians, pediatricians and obstetricians, is supplementing health services been offered by local medical staff.

The Medical Jubilee Celebration Team includes medical experts from the University Teaching Hospital -UTH, Ndola and Kitwe Central Hospitals.

The cure has always been there from the time HIV was made in a lab as a population control measure to subdue the Africans. Unless if they want to tell us that they have achieved there goals.
