Geoffrey Mwamba says police should arrest his worker Collins Mudai for stealing K920 from him through forgery.
And Mwamba, who is Kasama Central PF member of parliament, yesterday appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to assaulting Mudai, his operations manager at Arizona Marketing in Lusaka on May 14.
After taking plea before magistrate Prince Mwiinga, Mwamba, in the company of his wife Chama and several sympathisers, wondered why the police were not arresting Mudai for forgery and theft of K920 even after he reported the matter at Community Police 19 in Lusaka on May 14, the same day of the alleged assault.
Mwamba said Mudai should have been behind bars, but that he was surprised that it was him instead appearing before court on assault charges.
“These are the works of my enemies. He (Mudai) just wants to get something from me. I reported him for forgery on May 14 at CP 19 (Community Police 19), why have the police not arrested him? It is not true that I assaulted the guy. This is just politicking,” said Mwamba, before he was driven out of the court premises by ABZ president, Frank Bwalya, in a tinted Toyota Mark II registration number ALJ 1969.
Police public relations officer, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed that Mwamba reported the matter on May 14, 2014.
Hamoonga said there was a dispute over a signature which was used to draw fuel.
He said the case was being investigated and that police would subject the signature to a handwriting expert to ascertain whose it was.
“It’s not a straightforward matter because it takes time. Once investigations are done, the police will institute an arrest, said Hamoonga.
Mwamba, a businessman and politician, of 10 Roan Road, is alleged to have assaulted Mudai and caused him actual bodily harm contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
But Mwamba pleaded not guilty before a packed courtroom.
Earlier, Mwamba appeared before senior resident magistrate, Mwaka Mikalile, after the case was allocated to her by Lusaka chief resident magistrate Joshua Banda, but the latter recused herself citing personal reasons and referred the case back to magistrate Banda.
Magistrate Banda re-allocated the case to magistrate Mwiinga.
Mwamba was represented by Sakwiba Sikota, Martha Mushipe, Mutakela Lisimba and Makebi Zulu.
Police officers had sealed both gates leading to the court complex in the morning on assumption that Mwamba’s sympathisers may cause fracas but only a few supporters were spotted outside the court premises driving off in three small buses after Mwamba took plea

The case sounds twisted,Mudai certainly stole frm GBM,but GBM could have manhandled the man in reverse out of anger. If Mwamba reported him to the police as he claims,he would have waited abit to conclude the police’s position. To hanle him alone,if he did, that’s were he is beeing folllowed up especially that he has served in a higher office and indeed that politics is hunting him too.

This is rubbish. Arizona is an established company and in any company this issues are handled internally first by charging the thief and if the company so wishes depending on the coperation of the employee, he could also be reported to the police to investigate.
Physical assault superceed stealing $130.00
Cage the heep of flesh.

GBM can force anyone out of his premises. he does not need to report to police. he can use any means necessary to remove an un desirable element from his premises. if that person goes and reports to the police and police establish that the person was resisting to remove his person from another’s premises he ought to be charged for criminal trespass!
