Open Society Foundation (OSF) Executive Director Sunday Chanda has accused the Zambia Police of being selective in the application of the Public Order Act.
Mr. Chanda says the move by Police to block MMD President Nevers Mumba from meet his members in Eastern Province while allowing PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba to go around the country to conduct similar meetings amounts to double standards in applying the law.
Mr. Chanda says such double standards continue to prove that the police is partial in the manner it applies the public order Act.
He says the Police should apply the same rules to all political parties including the ruling party.
Mr. Chanda has since appealed to Home Affairs Minister Ngosa Simbyakula to rise to the occasion and guide them men and women in uniform on the application of the Public order Act.

Imwe bantu it appears that ba Sata and PF have forgotten that they are where they are because Mwanawasa and Rupiah Banda’s govt allowed them to campaign in the freely without any manipulation and intimidations. Our Police are abusing the Public order Act with impunity.Let them know that no condition is permanent. One day PF will be out of power;and where will these young police officers go when the people they are abusing form next govt? Ba PF remember that these same police officers you are using to suppress the opposition, will be the same police officers to abuse you when your pants are down(out of power).

CORRECTION:Sata and PF they are where they are today because Mwanawasa and RB’s govts allowed PF to campaign in the country with empty fuel containers freely.Nobody stopped them at all.The Pf was able to sell their manifestos in all provinces because Mwanawasa and Rupiah never abused the police to harrass the opposition.Anyway we are watching.Let them enjoy the temporal power;but one day they will be on the other side of the fence.God speaks through the PEOPLE.Time is the best liberator.

@Chimbwi nayena, that’s a valid point. PF sold their manifesto, but this little diaper politicians its just ‘Sata this, PF that, Bemba those, Economy thus, Barotse them, Farmers then, Foreign service who’ When are we going to hear of their plans? I can’t sign a blank cheque for them in 2016, I have NOTHING to hold them accountable to. At least we have a lot to ask Sata to account for.

The solution is in love. if the oposition and PF cud show love to each other such problems cant be there. its like asking a rat to prepare a shelter for a cat. pliz lets love and respect each other becouse we depend on each other
