Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Bonnie Kapeso has denied allegations that the police in Muchinga Police hounded out the United Party for National Development (UPND) entourage in Chinsali District today.
Mr. Kapeso has told Qfm news in a telephone interview that police is only doing their job by advising the opposition not hold meetings without notifying the police in accordance with the Public Order Act.
Mr. Kapeso says there is need for political parties to abide by the Public Order Act and give notice to the police before holding public meetings.
Mr. Kapeso explains that the UPND should not exaggerate the situation on the ground but accept that police only advised the entourage to get permission seven days before holding their party meetings.
Earlier during the day UPND Secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba told qfm news that the UPND entourage had been hounded out of Chinsali District were they are for party mobilization.

ninshi ths public order act only applies to th opposition? iv noticed two words tht r a bit confusing here, notify and permission. so even after notifying them 7days prior to the meeting, they can stil deny u.

Bonny Kapeso thinks the opposition MUST GET PERMISSION from the Police. The police only NEED NOTIFICATION.Please bakapokola diffenreciate between PERMISSION and NOTIFICATION.Kabimba has been all over the provinces without hindrances from the Police. Iam afraid some of these cops may not have their jobs chopped off prematurely when a new govt comes in power.Time is best judge and it will catch up with them.

The problem is failure to recognz the authorty treat our police well and they will treat you well. a month cant pass without UPND having something to complain about this is a sign of weakness. sata was trying love, peace and aroganc but UPND has only aroganc.

Sense, in 2008 it was a known fact that MMD stole elections what message did sata pass to his supoters who wanted to rise agains govt? Thats peace. when nurses were on strike he went there with a word of love and nurses went back to work. when he reconciled with levy thats another example of love and humility
