Government Gives Times of Zambia 14 days To Pay Its Workers

Acting Labour Minister Chishimba Kambwili has given Times of Zambia 14 days  to pay its employees or face the wrath of his anger.

Mr. Kambwili says it is unfortunate that parastatals like the Times of Zambia can fail to manage their employees, who have gone unpaid for three months.

He says he does not care where the board will find the money, but all he wants is that the Times of Zambia should pay its employees in two weeks.

Times of Zambia employees accross Ndola, Kitwe and Lusaka have downed tools demanding to be paid their three months salary arrears.

Kambwili has also given a one month notice the Lusaka City Council and Chipata Municipal Council to pay their employees or face appropriate action.

Times of Zambia is supposed to be self sustainable but because of employing relatives and cadres you find institutions start going under jst like the way Kambwili has employed his nephew under his ministly as a driver and this boy now doesn’t fear anyone and boasts that he is untouchable. Kanshi where is ba anti-corruption?

Just like ZESCO. It is so overstaffed with Pf relatives and 98% bemba. Hence the increase in tariffs.

Hon. Kambwili komfweni ama operational challenges yalifye na Ba times of Zambia & see how best you can put your heads together and pay the workers. As a team, you can work out the sustainable & long term solutions as opposed to merely giving ultimatum. It appears the newspaper firm is facing serious financial challenges due to weaknesses in management which require appropriate interventions.
