UNIIP Hopes To Bounce Back In 2016 Says Will Capitalise On PF Mistakes

UNIP president Tilyenji Kaunda says the party’s mobilisation exercise ahead of the 2016 general elections is in top gear.
And Tilyenji says Zambia needs more prayer so that the country does not drift apart in terms of unity.
In interview in Lusaka yesterday, Tilyenji said UNIP was consolidating its structures on the ground ahead of the 2016 general elections.
“We had meetings with our party structures throughout the country a couple of weeks ago and basically, they gave some marching orders that we mobilise our grassroots structures ahead of the 2016 general elections and there is a lot of work that needs to be done,” he said.
Asked how he rated the performance of the PF in that two and half years it has been in government, Tilyenji said the party had made some progress but with some mistakes too.
“Ask them PF. First of all, I think that people do some good things and make some mistakes. The most important thing is that PF must recognise its own mistakes and quickly seek better ways of resolving such challenges,” Tilyenji said.
“If it PF does not recognise its own mistakes, we shall capitalise on them as opposition parties, naturally being the watchdogs in a democracy.”
Tilyenji said the PF was on the right path but that it could not beat his party’s record.
“Speaking as a political party, no one can do better than us UNIP. I think our performance has been the best ever so far, and so we will stick to that record. We still hold the cup,” Tilyenji said.
And Tilyenji said Zambia required prayers for continued peace and unity.
“The main issue is that Zambia needs to maintain peace. We need to remain responsive because of needs, obviously Zambians are going through rough times, part of it because of the global economy, and the economic downturn but certainly there are certain things that can be done to help the people,” Tilyenji said.
“I think that things not to touch are fuel, because that one, the government needs to come in and sacrifice so that we have affordable fuel. Obviously, fuel touches on everything, from the basic foodstuffs to anything else like farming, and inputs, so we need to be careful about that one,” Tilyenji (below) said.
He was saddened that the nation was drifting apart in terms of unity.
“I think that there has been too much tribalism creeping in, nepotism and things like that. We need to work on that one as a nation. So I think that we need a lot of prayers to achieve that goal,” said Tilyenji.

UNIP will definitely bounce back after 50 years. For now UNIP never, you lose hope continue mobilising yourselves. We are remaining with 27 years more. We shall vote you back. In the meantime allow these small parties to test power.
