South African giants Orlando Pirates have expressed interest in signing Nkana forward Evans Kangwa.
Both Nkana chairperson John Chiwele and secretary Ken Mwansa confirmed the development in separate interviews yesterday.
“Yes they have approached us through an agent but nothing concrete yet. We will wait if there will be anything,” Chiwele said.
He said Nkana will not block the striker from leaving the club if the deal materialises.
Kangwa has scored once in the Super Division, once in the Confederation Cup and two goals for the national team.
He netted a brace in the 2-1 win over Uganda in an international friendly at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on March 5, 2014.
“We will not stand in the way if the deal will be good for the young man. We don’t have any problem and we will support him,” Chiwele said.
Mwansa said they asked Pirates to give their offer.
“The ball is in their [Pirates] court but they have not responded,” he said.
And Chiwele is confident Nkana can still make it to the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup despite managing one point from three matches.
He said Nkana have two crucial home matches against Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia and Al Ahly from Egypt.
Chiwele said the two home games are a must-win.
“I believe even Sewe Sport from Ivory Coast are beatable at their home. We can qualify if we play well,” he said.
Al Ahly and Etoile have five points apiece and Sewe have three points.
