You Can’t Marry Two Men,Zambian Woman Told
The Lusaka Boma Court has castigated a 31-year-old woman for getting married to two men adding that not even the law expected such conduct from a woman.
Senior Court Magistrate Daniel Phiri said it is unheard of for a woman to have two men as husbands.
“Not even the laws of Zambia support a woman to be in a polygamous marriage,” the perplexed magistrate Phiri said.
This was heard in a case in which Maureen Longwe of Chalala sued Given Nyondo, 32 for divorce. The two got married in 2007 and have two children together.
Nyondo told the court that his wife, Longwe got married to another man when she was still married to him.
“I was shocked to hear that Longwe got married when we went on separation after a marital dispute,” he said.
Nyondo said he was also shocked when Longwe went to live with him despite getting married to another man.
He further said Longwe denies him sex and when he asks her why she does that, she says “You have your manhood and I have my womanhood. We can do whatever we want with them”.
Nyondo also complained that Longwe has not shaved his pubic hair since 2007 yet she is clean shaven herself.
He said he loves his wife and forgave despite catching her having sex with another man.
Nyondo pleaded with the court not to dissolve their marriage for the sake of the children adding that no other person could take care of them as well as she does.
But earlier, Longwe told the court that she wants to divorce Nyondo because he is a violent man.
“Nyondo has threatened to kill me using a knife or set me ablaze,” she said.
Longwe also said Nyondo likes accusing her of having extra- marital affairs.
Passing jugement, the court granted the duo divorce but no compensation was given to Longwe.
Nyondo was however ordered to be a paying K300 towards child support.

Good leson to all men who think they cn treat women like in the stone age. There are so many Longwes out there. Once they start it u gona bcome tasteless!
