Man In Court For Predicting Sata’s Death

A 42-year-old Lusaka man who claimed that President Micheal Sata would be dead by May 30,2014 yesterday appeared before magistrate Ireen Wishimanga for plea.
However, the accused,Michael Muzondwa Achiume,a buisnessman of Libala South, could not take plea because his lawyer Jonas Zimba asked for an adjournment.
Zimba told magistrate Wishimanga that he needed to advise his client on the route to take.
Achiume is charged with publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm to the public contrary to the laws of Zambia.
It is Alleged that the Achiume on may 24 in Lusaka orally published a statement likely to cause fear or alarm to the public saying the Republican president would die by Friday May 30,2014.
The case has been adjourned to July 18.
two weeks ago,Achiume appeared before Magistrate Wishimanga on the same charge but different facts and he pleaded not guilty.

    is it an offense to predict something? then arrest minister of agriculture as well for predicting a bumper harvest. on sata I would not call it a prediction, surely as day follows night, he is going to die perhaps pretty soon, who knows, just like any other person will die, may be later than sata

    By virtue of him being president, Sata’s life i.e. his family, his children, his property and even his health are in the limelight for every citizen to scrutinize and comment on….Whether this man is locked up for having said such a thing about the president, the truth of the matter is the president’s health is being talked about everywhere by different people – in buses, in bars, in clubs, in homes…everywhere. They might as well arrest the whole nation. “Speech is Silver and Silence is Golden”. The more they try to defend the president’s health, the more people laugh about it because they know what they saw on TV. The best is to let the people talk and them just keep quiet in the hope that the truth will come out (it eventually comes out anyway). So if the president is well as they say, the truth will come out.

    This human being should go and predict the death of his father or indeed any relative of his.In fact he is even wrong in his predictions coz 30th May is gone and the president is a live. Just what type of rights does he got to go on with his stupidity? Hes deserves to be separated from sane human beings by caging him.

    Proverbs 24:17 When your enemy falls, do not rejoice,and when he stumbles, do not let your heart be joyful;

    18 Otherwise, Jehovah will see and be displeased, and He will turn away his anger from him.

    No normal human being can rejoice over anyone’s misfortune. The point some of us are trying to drive home is that the president’s life is in the limelight for all to see and comment and scrutinize. What beats me is how talking about the president’s health has suddenly become taboo. Sata himself used to be in the forefront demanding a medical report on Levy Mwanawasa to show if he was still fit to be president of the republic of Zambia. This is what I call double standards. Let the people talk and question the president’s capabilities of leading this country as at now the same way Sata used to question Levy Mwanawasa’s capabilities. What is good for the goose must certainly be good for the gander. Am surprised that even Fred Membe is quiet over this issue. He used to talk a lot when Anderson Mazoka was sick. When people used to rebuke him he used to say “When a man is sick, he is sick..” Mind you Anderson was not even the president of Zambia. He was just an aspiring candidate for the presidency and that was enough to have his life and health on a magnified glass. Let us be honest with one another sometimes. Chaona muzako chapita mawa chilipaiwe.

      Do you believe in the concept of an eye for an eye, really? Isn’t vengeance the Lord’s?

      But in one way or the other the president also deserves some privacy. His predictions which has proved to be wrong anyway, has no blessings from any one whose cogitating capability is humane. The 30th May is gone and the president is still working even for the predictor himself.

    What an offence! God is the giver of life. Such predictions were petty and deserved on attention. Can’t we concentrate on something more beneficial than such petty issues.

    I am really shocked people here are behaving like the primitive Islamist Jihadist whom if anybody says anything about their Prophet they rise up and kill everyone involved. Everyone knows that the president has serious health issues and obviously sooner or later he is going to pass on. This is nothing none other than politics of fear. I am afraid this country is becoming a vigilante state where people have no freedom of speech. Any slight slip of the tongue the vigilantes will be on you. The current president , himself , used to call Levy Mwanawasa a vegetable who wasn’t health to be president.

    Zambians why do you forget things so easily? Is it not this same Sata who used to tease his friends like G Kunda, L mwanawasa, A Mazoka e.t.c What’s wrong now if the same happens to him? Zambians have you stopped thinking? Remember what goes around comes around.let’s continue the predictions. I predict July 7 2014 !!!

    After watching ZNBC news this evening where Sata was shown, I think this man deserves washautu because it’s evident things are amiss with Sata. The only charge the “prophet” must be given is availing people with a false date of expiry for Sata. I am non-partisan but the man is not the Sata we knew some three years ago.
