everything is political even if they are straight forward. I think the minister is old enough to compare todays women and that of yesteryears, here there is nothing to deny, women are supposed to be the respectable and responsible mothers to take of home affairs than going out in clubs prostituting and being carriers of H.I.V and AIDS which at the same time is costing govt our hard earned revenue. Let the depute minister not support reckless women because their actions are even causing marriage divorces that we are reading in newspapers and witnessing today which are causing problems to the well being of our children.

Sad that a Cabinet Minister failed to make a policy statement on the issue but chose to join the debate on a partisan sexist side. Yes, men drink but our society is shocked by the rate at which women drink. Why the shock? Firstly we claim to be a Christian country meaning we embrace biblical principles and African culture which portray women as reserved. Besides, women as mothers, are expected to be moderate in taking alcohol and other drugs because of their obvious and well known adverse biological effects. This has nothing to do with opposition politics or gender rivalry between men and women. The Minister should have guided the nation through a policy (not a partisan) statement. That is the role of a Minister. The statement she made belongs to activists.
