Gospel singer Kings Mumbi has warned ‘selfish politicians’ against shunning this year’s golden jubilee.
In an interview, Mumbi commonly known as Kings Malembe Malembe said no political leader must encourage citizens to rubbish the golden jubilee because it was a divine national event.
“Any politician who will stop youths from attending the golden jubilee celebration is confused and selfish. People will judge them by their interests and desperation to get into power. Our leaders must know that this is a special and divine occasion which our forefathers died fighting for,” he said.
The singer, who’s knack for gospel rhumba has revitalised the music genre in Zambia, said he has since produced an album called Shut Up! to counsel people who spread death wishes and ill will against others.
“This is a prophetic period for Zambia. It is beyond politics, tribe, denomination or skin colour. No one leader will die during this period. So don’t pray for anyone to die. Jubilee for us has already started and we are expecting 30,000 people to attend the Shut Up! album launch at Woodlands Stadium on July 7. Anyone who is talking negative about others must shut up!” he said.
“We have seen in the past politicians advising their youths and women to shun national events, giving reasons that there is no need to celebrate because the government has not given in to their demands. The fact that Zambia is such a peaceful country should be enough reason to celebrate.”
Mumbi said jubilee had nothing to do with the political party running the government.
“This is a time for politicians to show unity of purpose. They must preach love and bury their differences. Let them not only desire to go to State House,” he said.
Mumbi said he had personally seen the unprecedented development brought about by the PF government.
“I come from an area where for the first time we have seen a tarred road and that is one reason for celebrating,” he said.
Mumbi said the government had transformed the civil service by demanding hard work from workers.
“They civil servants had a very bad mentality of sitting idle in their offices drinking coffee and waiting for deals and corruption. This has been removed and now people think they are suffering under this government because there is no corruption money,” observed Mumbi.

Ba ‘Kings’ you sound like a sponsored cadre, unless you are not a Zambian. Who would want to attend such an event just to end up being beaten by Political thugs like what has been happening of late in our Country. What have you got to say about that?
I have from to day onwards withdrawn my support for you. You now seem to be a political cadre than a man of God.
